Summary

The delicious new novel from Sunday Times best-selling author Heidi Swain:

Fliss Brown has grown up living with her mother on the Rossi family’s Italian fruit farm. But when her mother dies, Fliss finds out she has a family of her own, and heads back to England with Nonna Rossi’s recipe for cherry and almond tart and a piece of advice: connect with your family before it is too late....

Fliss discovers that her estranged grandfather owns a fruit farm himself, on the outskirts of Wynbridge, and she arrives to find a farm that has fallen into disrepair. Using her knowledge gleaned from working on the Rossi farm and her desire to find out more about her past, Fliss rolls her sleeves up and gets stuck in. But what will she discover, and can she resurrect the farm’s glory days and find a taste of home?

Very enjoyable

Just love Heidi Swain's writing and Karen Cass's narration. All the characters are accessible and for the most part, likeable. I usually listen to my audibles as I fall asleep and this one is very gentle but intriguing enough to make me keep listening beyond when perhaps I should have fallen asleep!
Please keep 'em coming Heidi.....

Shallow unrealistic and predictable

I listened until the end but I’m kind of sorry that I did, I did not enjoy this book at all. the narration was grand but the story itself had no depth, I found myself really not liking the main character because she make such stupid assumptions and decisions, not realistic at all and the whole “forbidden love” thing made no real sense. Too cheesy for me. Enjoyed the talk about food and the dinner at the barn idea. Sorry I can’t say I enjoyed anything else in it.

Love this

I love Heidi Swain's books, they never fail to make me feel good. I also love the narrator Karen Cass, so for me a great combination. The characters are all amazing and the way it is written it really makes you want to be a part of the community that these characters live in! I will not hesitate buying any book from this author!

Loved it!

Such a warm, lovely, nice book! Really liked the characters and the storyline. The only mistake I made was listening to it while on a diet! Made it really hard to stick to my plan with all the delicious foods being mentioned!
As soon as I’m done with my diet, I’m making an almond and cherry tart! Lol 🤣

Tale from the Fens

Another tale of country life in the East Anglian Fens. When a young girl finds that she has family there and goes off to find them, little did she know it would change her life.

Well written storyline and beautifully read

Sweet little story

Sweet little story but a bit tame for me - the obstacles in the plot weren’t serious enough to give the story any grit.
