Preachy, not scholarly

I was hoping for something a little more academic and scholarly, but instead these lectures felt like a sermon series on finding justification for Calvinism in early church writings, which is fine for Calvinists, but not great for students of history. He barely scratched the surface of the the second and third centuries, which were what I was most interested to learn about.

Evangelical garbage!

Would you try another book from W. Robert Godfrey and/or W. Robert Godfrey?

No.

Any additional comments?

This isn't a book. It's a series of talks by a "pastor" to semi-literate bumpkins. Audible should warn listeners when what purports to be a book on church history is a collection of fundagelical sermons.
