The picture house by the sea is the Palace at Polwhipple - a lovely art deco cinema nestled in front of azure Cornish seas. But it is long past its heyday now, and its only saving grace is Ferrelli's, the family run ice-cream concession in the foyer, which is widely known as the best ice cream for miles. So when Ferdie, the owner of Ferelli's, breaks his leg, his granddaughter Gina drops everything to come and help out.

Story
Laurie Morgan runs a café in the small seaside community of Mermaids Point, named after the beauties rumoured to live in the waters off the top of the point. When a hazy image is posted online of what appears to be a mermaid, the café and the village are soon full to bursting with curious sightseers. The most eye-catching of the new arrivals is Jake Smith, who has rented a cottage for the summer while he works on his new book. Or so he says. In fact, he is a journalist, burned out and disillusioned with life, whose editor has sent him on a crack-pot hunt for mermaids....

Story
Every Summer has its own story.... For Ava Fisher, the backdrop to all her sun-drenched memories - from her first taste of chocolate-dipped churros to her very first kiss - is her grandmother's summer house in the sleepy Spanish seaside town of Mariposa. Returning for one last summer, Ava throws herself into a project her grandmother would be proud of. Café Estrella - once the heart of the sleepy seaside village - now feels more ramshackle than rustic. Just like Ava, it seems it has lost its sparkle.

The perfect escapist listen, for all fans of Cathy Bramley and Scarlett Bailey. When sisters Nessie and Sam inherit a little pub in a beautiful country village, they jump at the chance to escape their messy lives and start afresh. But when they arrive at the Star and Sixpence, it's not quite what they imagined - it's pretty much derelict, ruined by debts, and it's going to be a huge job....

Thoroughly Excellent in Every Regard
Sue Moorcroft at her best and ably narrated by Sophie Aldred. This is a book you won't want to put down, but at the same time, you won't want it to come to an end. You can't help but root for the well-drawn characters and will be completely taken into their world. I even found myself wanting to go and visit their little corner of England.

Easy listening.
This book was easy listening and enjoyable but slow an first.
I found the story line to be mainly a love story and for me that meant too much romance and not enough of a good plot.
Worth listening to especially if you don't want anything complicated.

Glad everyone got their happy ending, but...
that's the only positive thing to say. In reading to "escape", I imagine that not many of us want to be drug into the agenda of so called SJW"s and PC - I know that I don't. Unless, editors & writers are afraid that I am, in fact, correct - they should include in their synopsis, the extra side stories included before we spend our hard earned money and time.
The writer keeps saying something along the lines of calling someone names doesn't make them any less gay (I'm sure she thinks she's clever) but I say to her that calling someone names (because they don't agree with you) neither makes it true nor will it open dialogue to discuss prejudices on EITHER side.

A Summer to Remember
A Summer to Remember. I love this author. I love this book it is just a good read relaxing and a good village story. Not full of sex to take up space but enough romance to be interesting.
