About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The unputdownable bestseller from Shari Lapena, author of THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR and EVERYONE HERE IS LYING

Why would you run scared from a happy home?

You're waiting for your beloved husband to get home from work.

You're making dinner, looking forward to hearing about his day.

That's the last thing you remember.

You wake up in hospital, with no idea how you got there. They tell you that you were in an accident; you lost control of your car whilst driving in a dangerous part of town.

The police suspect you were up to no good. But your husband refuses to believe it. Your best friend isn't so sure. And even you don't know what to believe . . .

So many dizzying twists you'd better not drive after reading
The plot twists in Shari Lapena's A Stranger in the House made me shout "No!" out loud. Shari expertly traps you, confounds you and leaves you gasping at the end. More, please . . .
Smart, twisty and compulsive. Suspense and suspicion accumulate relentlessly, toying with your expectations and your emotions right up until the packs-a-punch ending. Don’t miss it, and don’t expect to be able to put it down
Hard to put down.
A smart and twisty thriller . . . It's taut, intelligent and compelling.
Tense.
Creeping sense of dread throughout . . . A firecracker of a plot twist.
Smart crime thriller packed with twists and turns which keep you guessing until a powerful ending that really packs a punch.
With its slow-burning plot and gradual, totally unpredictable reveal, this looks set to be another bestseller.
Dark and twisty.

I really liked this book, it had a great story and a good ending. I recommend getting it and you'll be saying one for minute all through the day 😃

Great book, the ending is surprising!

Looked forward to being in the car just so I could continue with the story

Great performance

An unmemorable book that plodded along for the first few hours of the recording. A bit too much over-wrought screeching by the main female character and then more from her female friend. It all seemed very predictable and formulaic. It gathers a bit of pace in the latter part and the unexpected final twist appears from nowhere with no clues laid down so seems an afterthought. It's a time-filler rather than anything special.

OK but not that good

Great tale, well written and well narrated. Characters are richly drawn. The focus is on the relationships between the main three protagonists and the Police procedural. In the later chapters, I thought I might be guessing how it would end, with a few options. None of them were correct. The ending was solid though, unlike too many in this genre.

Excellent!

Good book/story, plenty of twists & turns in the book to keep you guessing. The Narrator could be a bit "off" at times, hard to tell the characters apart due to tone/pitch. Recommend it
