Good Listen

This book is full of twists and turns that keeps you guessing. Why did she choose Logan and will she get back with Jake. The decisions that she makes will have you thinking that she is crazy until why is explained. Good crazy and twisted dark romance.

WOW loved it!!

I am really loving this series especially the narrator Claire she is absolutely killing it when it comes to narrating these crazy characters. I feel like in this book she is more comfortable with them like she knows them better, so she understands how to direct their emotions more. I felt like she enjoyed playing the characters you could hear it by the way they just flowed through her. Honestly Karen Lynn and Claire make wonderful partners when it comes to telling this intense story. Karen really out did herself in the second book I feel like finally Logan got what he deserve , and if your not his fan your going to enjoy his misery in this book like I did lol. What I am still not happy is that he still has this hold on Krissy, and its like no matter what he does in her eyes he can do no wrong she still finds away to forgive him. But at the same time I can understand the toxic love she has for him because everyone has had or knows someone who was with a Logan. Even though they have this ugly twisted relationship she has loyalty to him because of the past they share and in a crazy way he has loyalty to her as well which he has proven time and time again especially in this book. Logan and Jake are two different people but they both have one thing in common they both love the crap out of Krissy and would doing anything to protect her. But only one could give her a family well the other gave her freedom to carry on and be a mother to her son Alex. I am so excited for book three. I feel like things have just begun and there is still so much that needs to be told when it comes to these three stories.

The tumultuous Relationships Continues...

More Lies. More Secrets. More Pain. Possible New Relationship. New Friend... When will the three-way tumultuous relationship end? And, Who will be the loser? It's like a clock on the wall with a second hand, it goes around and around and around, and nobody knows when it will stop.

I couldn't stop listening until I got to the end of this book. Now, I have to wait for, "Turn To Dust: Book, 3." Karen Lynn, definitely has me on the edge of my seat waiting for it.
I want to give Claire Riley much praise for her narration for Book 1 & Book 2.

Obsessive and complex

A Sea of Smoke is the second book in the Hearts of Torment series, A War of Hearts is book one and must be read or listened to first to understand A Sea of Smoke.
This story is like a tsunami. It will ramp your emotions into over drive. Be forewarned. It is riveting, compelling and a very complicated story of two men, one woman and her volatile relationship with both, and know another life has been added to the equation.
In book one’s review I mentioned that Jake only wanted to help Kristen get away from Logan, but after listening to the last chapter, my mind is wondering? Where oh where does this lead?
I have to say thank you to Karen Lynn for gifting me this audible book for a fair and honest review, but also mention the anxiety it has left me with till Turn to Dust is released.

The Drama Continues

In this installment you'll find yourself continuing the emotional roller coaster! You'll find yourself wanting to strangle and smack upside the head all three main characters. Logan for his lack of self control, Kristen for her waffling, and Jake for, well, being Jake. There's plenty of drama and psychological mayhem. This one ends in a cliffhanger as well. I'm curious how this series will end, if Kristen and Jake will get their heads out of the sand and if Logan will fall off the face of the planet...maybe wishful thinking. :) The narration was well done. Claire Riley gives the characters their own voices and emotions. The only complaint I have is there were a few places where the pauses were a bit too long. Again, listening to this story unfold is still like watching a train wreck...you find it hard to not look away or listen in this instance.

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Dark and angsty, another page turner!

Intense and chilling story continues in the second book in this series. I found Kristen, Logan , and Jakes story interesting and twisted. Definitely for a mature, 18 and over, reader. This story winds through with incredible detail and character development. Generally, I gravitate to a more light-hearted story with HEA, but this one grabbed me in the first book and didn’t let go.
I suggest reading A War of Hearts first, to get the full story. Enjoy the ride!

An Emotional Roller Coaster

The story picks up a little bit after A War of Hearts. It is very important to have listened to A War of Hearts First for this book to make sense. Logan, Jake, and Kristen are just as toxic as ever. There are parts where the characters make us really angry and we are frustrated and really just wanting to knock some sense into them. Then there are other parts where we are feeling really good and confident that Kristen will stick to her plan of action. This love triangle is almost like a car wreck in that it keeps your attention even though you should look away. It is well written and suspenseful but is not your typical romance, it really is pretty dark and kind of twisted and not for the faint of heart. It won't be for everybody but once you start, you won't want to put down this emotional roller coaster.

The narrator does a great job in this performance. She really captures Kristen as a character and keeps the emotions running high.
