With Christmas approaching, the Brogan family of London's East End are braving the horrors of the Blitz. With the men away fighting for King and Country and the ever-present dangers of the German Luftwaffe's nightly reign of death and destruction, the family must do all they can to keep a stiff upper lip. For Jo, the youngest of the Brogan sisters, the perils of war also offer a new-found freedom. Jo falls in love with Tommy, a man known for his dangerous reputation as much as his charm. But as the falling bombs devastate their neighbourhood and rationing begins to bite, will the Brogans manage to pull together a traditional family Christmas? And will Jo find the love and security she seeks in a time of such grave peril?©2018 Jean Fullerton (P)2018 Bolinda Publishing Coming of Age Family Life Genre Fiction Historical Historical Fiction Kurgu Romantik Noel Savaş Kış

This is another great book from this author and series.
The story is lovely and takes you straight back to the era.
The author must have taken time to research as it all seems very authentic.
It’s a shame the narrator is different.
Annie Aldrington is a great narrator bringing the characters to life. It’s a shame she couldn’t narrate all the books in this series!
The narrator of this book lets it down.

Lovely book, shame about different narrator.

I didn’t realise this was a continuation of a previous book about the Brogan family but I was pleasantly surprised.
The story about other members of the brogan family left me shocked, tearful and enthralled. I was totally gripped by all the twists and turns and was emotional at others.

A story spoilt by the narrator, made me cringe at times, felt I had to finish listening being second in a set.

Nice storyline

Sadly I had to keep abandoning this as there was only so much of this narrators dialogue I could take. Instead of varying the way someone talks, using speed, tone, pace, another more subtle realistic ways of portraying a cockney accent, we were subjected to shrieking, shrill, parody accents.
Such a shame. I do hope they stop using the school or give her some lessons in how to pronounce words better. Also awful emphasis within a sentence, changing the meaning, from time to time. But Jean Fullerton is always excellent. I highly recommend call nurse Millie series.

Awful amateurish voices on a great story
