Summary

Gabriella Starr has silk suits, champagne tastes, and a great new career. She also has a strange man following her around Boston. Two of them, actually. When she tries to chase down the first, she encounters the second - ex-cop and new D.A. Cam Yaeger. He's sure she's in trouble, but Gabriella bristles when he offers to help. She's way too attracted to him, and it's not like her to go for law-enforcement types anyway. She's far too independent, too naturally defiant. And she's spent too many nights in jail....

Cam Yeager likes cold beer, his Bruins sweatshirt, and shaving every other day. He knows all about Gabriella Starr, her eccentric father, and their years rescuing rare, endangered orchids no matter the stakes. Now something shady is going on in Boston. And something explosive is hovering on the horizon as well: the wild fireworks of two intense opposites falling in love....

It was ok

I have a full library of mostly suspense, mystery with a little romance novels. I listen to many Nora Roberts books over and over such as The Witness.

A Rare Chance was just OK. It just isn’t a good enough story that I would want to listen to it even a second time. I dozed off a lot and had to keep rewinding. Some parts were very interesting but some parts were very flat.

The narrator was very good.

Quit listening; couldn’t finish

When questioned about her dad being attacked & her boss still questioned her, then she dropped the issue about the attack, I quit listening. That was the compelling evidence. It became stupid after that.

Intriguing

I really enjoyed the mystery. I continued to wonder who was really trustworthy! It was a clean romance and would enjoy reading more of her books.

Jrenea60

This seems like it was written by a screenwriter. Characters under developed, I couldn't tell what the orchids had to do with anything. is there something about orchids I don't know. The opening was terrible there was not enough done to set the scene. Maybe if this was set in the forties or something. Story was so choppy. Not terrible but not good.

abusive

This entire book was men emotionally abusing women. It was gross. The narration was good, the story was not.

Rare Chance

Hard to keep track of all the characters with no change in voice (all female) from the narrator.

I wanted to like it but...

Continued use of the characters first and last names as well as their job titles is aggravating and so is the lead female character's poor decision making and actions.

not my favorite

This story could have been shorter by about a chapter or so if the author didn't have to use the characters first and last names over and over and over.
