Story
When Fitzwilliam Darcy makes an impetuous offer of marriage to Miss Elizabeth Bennet, he is convinced they have as good a chance as any for a harmonious life together. That is, until an overheard conversation changes everything, and Darcy realizes he is now joined in perpetuity to a woman who loathes the very sight of him. Elizabeth Bennet's expectations for matrimonial accord were never very high, having accepted Mr. Darcy's proposal in a fit of pique, not love. Still, she is determined to make the best of her situation. But life at Pemberley is not at all what she imagined.

Though he knows he should not, he gives in to the temptation to read it and discovers a perspective on himself he had never before considered. Not only does Elizabeth not reciprocate his love, she considers him arrogant, insulting and disdainful. Her reasons, to his shame, are not entirely unfounded. Properly humbled, Darcy must decide what to do—walk away from his beloved forever or make the effort to please a woman worthy of being pleased.

Story
Some form of devilry has come over Mr. Darcy. Since his father’s death, Fitzwilliam Darcy has endeavored to be reliable, responsible, and restrained. But upon visiting Netherfield Park in Hertfordshire, he finds himself weary of the struggle to be so damnably well regulated and delights in a revival of the carefree mischief that characterized his younger days. What brings on this sudden reversal? Perhaps it is a shocking incident that takes place upon his first entering the neighborhood when he rescues Miss Elizabeth Bennet from the raging current of a rain-swollen stream.
Summary
He is on a mission to propose. But, the universe has other plans….
Fitzwilliam Darcy has found his perfect match in Elizabeth Bennet. Her spirited conversation, their frequent encounters at Rosings Park, and the fire in her eyes when she looks at him encourage Darcy to ask the question burning in his heart.
His words are well-rehearsed, and the moment is perfect...until a Great Dane puppy escapes from the kennel and plants her muddy paws on his brushed breeches, ruining his plans and gaining the attention of the lady he wishes to make Mrs. Darcy.
Elizabeth Bennet is grateful for the interruption. There is nothing Mr. Darcy can say that she would wish to hear. But, when he adopts the rambunctious puppy, she sees a kindness in him that challenges her opinion of the gentleman.
Will Elizabeth's dislike change by the time Darcy can finally propose? Or, will their friends' well-meant interference and a Great Dane pup ruin their chance of finding love?
A Perfectly (Un)timely Proposal is a feel-good, low-angst, sweet regency romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen's timeless classic, Pride and Prejudice.

Jennifer Joy and Stevie Zimmerman Team Up = Magic
I adore all books by Jennifer Joy. I enjoy all books narrated by Stevie Zimmerman. Put the two together and you get perfection in the form of fiction.
This story was lovely and lively with little angst and an adorably large puppy.
It was sweet and delightful to see how the untimely interruption of the puppy led to Darcy's better understanding and the time he took to make amends for his wrongs.

Quite Charming
Loved it. This tale is quite charming. Miss Ruby is delightful and really helped Darcy show his brilliant qualities to a reluctantly prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet. Ruby truly helped him charm Elizabeth and change her mind and heart.
Steve Zimmerman is brilliant once again.

Love this one
I just finished the audio version of this book and loved it. Stevie Zimmerman is probably my favorite Regency era narrator and she does a great job with this book. I enjoyed the story for a second time around and was happy to be able to both read it and listen to it. The story leaves me feeling contented with Darcy and Elizabeth and with the desire to sigh... Below is my review after reading the book.
*****
I'd just read a run of contemporary romance and was quite ready to get back to regency England so when this ARC opportunity came up I was thrilled to read it. It was exactly all that the description claimed to be and exactly what my Darcy loving heart needed; feel-good, low-angst, sweet Regency romantic comedy. I loved that so much of the book comes from Darcy's point of view. Ah, Darcy. He is so dense and in this retelling we get to know all the inner workings of his dense-ness. Good thing he has friends, and an adorable puppy.
I stayed up well into the night to finish the book in one go. I was sorry when it ended and wished I had another lined up right behind it to start. But alas, I've already read all of Ms. Joy's P&P retellings, some more than once. This one might need that second reading....
