About this listen

THE INSTANT SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

'Moving, outrageous and outrageously funny' Dawn French

When a toxic hospital consultant dies of a heart attack, fellow doctor Eitan Rose smells foul play. Nobody else does though, including some quite crucial players like the police and the coroner.

But Eitan just won't let it drop, and his friends and colleagues become increasingly concerned about his mental health as his chaotic investigation and equally chaotic life spiral out of control. Is he making a career-ending mistake, or could there genuinely be a killer stalking the wards?

A deathly funny mix of mystery, murder and medicine, A PARTICULARLY NASTY CASE is the brilliantly original debut novel from Adam Kay, BAFTA-winning author of multi-million global bestseller THIS IS GOING TO HURT.©2025 Adam Kay (P)2025 Orion Publishing Group Limited

I loved Adam Kay’s previous books, but I could not finish this one. Being an NHS clinician myself I laughed in places, but the story line was too crazy and I struggled to sympathise with privileged cocaine snorting Ethan in his life struggles. The annoyingly sounding narrator was the famous final nail in the coffin. I genuinely do not care who the killer was.

Didn’t like the storyline and narrator

Brilliantly narrated but disappointing content. Guessed the culprit very early on. Gratuitous swearing and sexual references that didn’t add to the story.

Great narration

Excellent storyline. Somebody said they spotted the murderer early on. Not sure how they managed that.

Narration superb.

A great story well written in the style I've come to enjoy from this author.

Loved it

This was simply my favourite book so far this year. Gripping, entertaining, great story and plot twists and some huge laugh out loud moments which probably made me look insane whilst walking my dog. What a treat to have Andy Serkis narrate! Excellent combo of performance and story!

Most entertaining book in a while
