Summary

Hunting down a paeodophile priest, Carlyle finds himself up against his old adversary, Christian Holyrod. The Mayor of London is responsible for hosting an upcoming visit by the Pope and does not want any more scandals involving the Catholic Church. Carlyle, however, is not prepared to let crimes slide, putting him on a collision course with both the Mayor and the church.

Without his sympathetic boss, Carole Simpson, to protect him, could this be the end of the line for Carlyle?

Never one to fight only one battle at a time, he also has to deal with an armed robbery at an upscale jewellers in Mayfair...and a serious health scare for Helen, his wife.

You'll be full of sorrows if you buy this book.

What would have made A Man of Sorrows better?

The synopsis made the book sound interesting but the plot was ludicrous. Carlyle, the central character, is supposed to be a hard-boiled detective. Carlyle's average day consists of aggravating his superiors, effing and jeffing at the various crimes and popping into cafes for green tea.

What could James Craig have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

This could have been so much better. Needs a tighter story line, more plausible characters and crimes.

How could the performance have been better?

Narration was best feature of this book.

What character would you cut from A Man of Sorrows?

The most pointless character was the female executive who kept a nude photo of herself on the office wall.

Another great book in this series.

This is yet another great book in this series with well rounded characters, a decent storyline and good narration. Highly recommended.
