Summary

I’m not the person you’re pretending I am.

Graham is still reeling from the pain of separation from his husband, Calvin. He forces himself to wade back into the dating pool with the help of a handsome stranger who offers to remind what it’s like to put himself out there.

Are you saying you want to go on a date with me?

Emory has his hands full with Graham when his new boss, Calvin, asks him out for drinks. He’s not sure there’s a future with Graham, even though he wouldn’t mind one, so he tells Calvin yes. He has no idea the men he’s about to fall for are already desperately in love…with each other.

Did you know it was me?

When his paralegal suggests a group date, Calvin bucks tradition and tells the younger man yes. He’s not expecting Emory’s other boyfriend to be his estranged husband, and he’s definitely not expecting what comes next.

That’s against the rules.

Calvin, Graham, and Emory find themselves in a delicate relationship with rules and structure, but hearts are wild and refuse to listen. Emory is ready to commit, but Calvin and Graham’s past threatens their future and the chance to see their love made whole.

I didn’t know I’d fall in love with you.

Heartbreakingly beatiful

Story: Kate Hawthorne sure packed an emotional punch into this book. A failing marriage, family drama, insecurities, heaps of hurt and failed expectations on top of figuring out a three - way relationship that is a completely new territory for all parties involved. It's a very emotional story and there are heaps of difficult ones. I couldn't help becoming invested from the very beginning, as the author did a brilliant job at building a very immersive tale!
Narration: Great performance! The Narrator did a great job differentiating the MCs voices.

Hot Dayuum!!!!

Hot Dayuum in deed!!! This story is hot, sexy and if you get interrupted whilst listening to it you may well want to hurt the person who interrupts you!!! For not only is the story all that the narrator's voice is all that too!! Where to start with this review??

The men. All so different but yet the same on a base level; in need of love, of patience, of caring, of being seen, of time, of being made to feel special. Each of them were coming from a different place in their lives and thinking they needed something different, something more shallow, hard and fast to chase away the emptiness. But do they really...

The characters. From isolated rich boy, closeted female lawyer, overbearing dad, commanding bear restaurant manager, black tie wearing lawyer, a snotty English lawyer and Zach the characters all gel really well. The chemistry between the main characters sizzles like a frying pan in high and had the hairs on my neck standing on end, which is inappropriate whilst working! The supporting characters are just right, being subtle and well placed and rather not needed mostly!

The narration. Christopher Rourke had me listening to this book in one go, 6 hours 29 minutes, and I could listen for longer. He has a great voice and as said above the hairs on my neck and arms were definitely raised during particular scenes. He had a distinct voice for each character, the female character was great which is not always the case with male narrators, and his English accent was definitely nothing like DVD which gets a bonus point from me.

My slight negatives would be that the narration needed a tad of emotion; I like it when the narrator is 'playing the part' and you hear the breathing during a scene, the catch of the breath, the emotion in the speech. And also sometimes Emory sounded like Henry and Calvin sounded like Kelvin. Not major game changers for listening to the book, just something that I noted.

I totally loved this story, this author and this narrator. I'm off now to pick up the first two books in the trilogy as you should too xx
