'Can you come round?' Dad says tremulously.
'Of course. Are you OK? Is it Mum?'
'No!' He almost shouts it. 'Just come quickly. The garden...the...body... we need you, Penny.'
For women of Penny's generation, being on hand for elderly parents is just part of life. But for Penny, things have become a little more serious...

When she receives a frantic phone call from her parents one night, with express instructions NOT to call the police, Penny rushes over at once. But they haven't had a fall. They haven't forgotten their computer passwords. They've killed someone. And his body is lying in the garden, right next to the rose bushes.
Everyone is capable of murder. They just need to meet the right person.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Clever plot, thought it was going one way, often thought they would be found out but it just kept moving along, with Penny and her parents managing to keep the wool pulled over people's eyes.
Loved the twists as it reached it's conclusion.

Loved the Twists

A cleverly plotted story with believable & down to earth characters whose experiences are easy to relate to. Twists make it an exciting listen.

Great Story!

Brilliant! For Thursday murder club fans

Not the crime thriller I was expecting, more Midsomer Murders. Whilst I started off enjoying the plot, I quickly became frustrated by the main character, Penny and her lack of intuition ; Why not use your phone to record incidents with Cooper? Why not set up cameras in the house? If you knew your dodgy tenant had stolen keys from your house, wouldn’t you change your locks?
Accents a bit stereotypical…Posh Penny and her parents, compared to the more regional spoken, stoned, ungrateful son?
Unbelievable what Penny and her parents got away with. Kept thinking the female detective would find incriminating evidence.
Overall, not the thriller I was hoping for….more a lighthearted holiday read. Too frustrating at points to recommend to fans of the thriller genre.
