About this listen

As worlds collide…

Hatushaly, last scion of the Firemane dynasty, his beloved Hava, and their dubious friend Donte have been transported across space and time from the war-torn world of Garn to the relative peace of Midkemia.

There, on Sorcerer's Isle, under the guidance of the magician Magnus and his erstwhile father Pug, in his reincarnated form, Hatu will explore and expand his unique magical abilities.

With the evil Pride Lords defeated, the Church of the One has risen to bring death and destruction to his home world. The Church is sending forces against Marquensas, where Daylon is now king, and Declan Smith finds himself suddenly and unexpectedly raised to the status of prince and war commander.

But an even greater menace than the Church of the One lies in wait, a creature from the Void, bent on the destruction of all living things.

Pug, Nakor and Magnus will need to join forces with Hatu, Hava and Declan if they are to save the worlds of Midkemia and Garn from everlasting darkness…

A spectacular new epic series from the globally bestselling author of MAGICIAN.

Excellent story. Narrator isn't as good as the old ones, odd pronunciations and inconsistent, not always great voices

being back Peter Joyce

Simply amazing as all previous books. The story, the setting, the reader is all great, but what I'm amazed with the most in these books is the author's ability to swap to different characters and somehow keep the story in a good flow and it doesn't cause confusion and all the characters catch equal interest. That's honestly rare.

Amazing as always!

Great story as expected from Raymond. The narrator overall is pretty good and I do t miss Peter Joyce as much as some of the other books not read by him. The most annoying thjng is that the narrator clearly hasn’t been told how to say a number of the names and pronounces them very differently to previous books. It wouldn’t take more than 5 minutes for someone in production to tell him how to correctly pronounce Crydee, Midkemia, Calis, Tomas and many more. It ended up being very distracting. Nakors voice is very jarring.

Great story. Narrator needs to learn how to say the names properly

I really wanted to love everything about this but as a narrator, this guy is really not up to Feist's writing and has ruined this listen for me.

Peter Joyce absolutely owns these stories - not sure I can handle another Feist book with this narrator.

Poor Narration

Feist is a legend, I am overjoyed that his recent series has returned to the RiftWar. I both read and listened to this book. I enjoyed the story very much, however this narrator bugged me on the last series, but it’s even worse on this book. Perhaps some of it is the editing or production. My niggles: there are big pauses at the end of sentences AND before reading dialogue tags (‘he said’ etc). I listen in x1.25 speed too; his reading is both too jolly and matter of fact; his range of voices isn’t great.
That saying, I’m an and always will be a massive fan of Feist.

Another Great story
