Can a feckless rake become the ideal husband?

Regency London: With her family in dire straits, Kate Harmon agrees to marry the rakish Viscount Nicholas Dunston in return for a generous settlement from his father.

But before she even meets her fiance, she overhears him promising to continue his affair with his mistress.

Horrified, Kate enters the marriage with an air of coldness and distance.

Determined to overcome her dislike, Nicholas attempts to endear himself to his new wife.

And though she has resolved not to fall in love, Kate soon finds it difficult to resist her husband's charms . . .

When you find a new to you author and it turns out to be really good, then all you need is more books!
The story is not, perhaps, very novel: protagonists are forced into marriage and what becomes of suspicions and things not said. The writing is well paced and characters compelling. It was very difficult to put this book down, just wanted to listen to all in one go. No anatomical bedroom scenes, thank god, but still lots of passion. Narration is passable, though not perfect, i.e. "ball dress" was read as "bull dress", "books" were "boeks", "patently" was American and not British "peitntly".

The narrator is not up to the job and spoils the story. The author makes some mistakes relating to the period and I have read large parts of the plot in other books.

Predictable, sweet story

Nice characters and relatively realistic dilemma. Unfortunately the blatantly copied content is so disgraceful that it leaves a sour taste and reduces the respect the author could deserve.

What on earth is the matter with such authors? Disgusting.
