Regency Bletchley Park meets a Regency James Bond!
Where does A Code of Love rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Probably somewhere in the top third of books in my library.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Please can I have two? I really enjoyed both Lady Henriette and Lord Cordelier Rathbourne. Both have their preconceived ideas about the other but through intrigue and danger they both discover and grow accustomed to the other's finer qualities.
Have you listened to any of Pearl Hewitt’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I've listened to a lot of Pearl's audiobooks and she's one of my favourite narrators. Her voice seems particularly suited to Regency era fiction. She never disappoints.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Spies, intrigue and code breakers but not as we usually know them!
Any additional comments?
This is the first audiobook by Jacki Delecki that I've listened to. On the whole, I enjoyed it but it's obvious that Ms. Delecki is from the USA as evidenced by a number of Americanisms present in the book. Provided you can ignore or set these aside, I can recommend it as a good listen. If it hadn't been for these quibbles, I would have awarded 4 stars for the story.
I would say that it should be for a Mature Adult audience only as there are a number of fairly explicit sex scenes in it but they're well written and not at all gratuitous.
DISCLAIMER: I received my copy of this audiobook as a gift from the narrator.

Code Breakers Book One
Code Breakers Book One
Lady Henrietta Harcourt has been covering for her uncle's mental lapses with English Intelligence for years when her brother is sent to France to utilize their family's infamous code breaking skills. She has attracted the attentions of two intelligence agents from the English and French agencies with her skills. Cordelier Rathbourne, the new Director of English Intelligence, has always had a certain affection for the lady, but her mother's illness pulled her away from the season too early. Will Henrietta's code breaking skills come to light, or will she be able to protect her uncle's reputation while under Cord's scrutiny?
If you're looking for a dashing historical mystery, this book is the one for you!
Audio Review:
Pearl Hewitt narrates the story with the accent necessary for such a story. She doesn't over-act, but her narration isn't just a straight reading. She gives enough punch to keep readers engaged.

Romance and adventure
If you could sum up A Code of Love in three words, what would they be?
Romance, adventure, characters
What did you like best about this story?
The complex characters that I got to know as the story unfolded. Ms. Delecki provided each character's background clearly so that you could easily understand their motives and their attitudes.
Have you listened to any of Pearl Hewitt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, this was the first audible book that I have listened to narrated by Pearl Hewitt.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me smile often when Henrietta and Cord were verbally dueling and sigh when they finally understood each other.

A Romance and Intrigue
The story is a sweet romance around English spies during the time of Napoleon. A fun book to listen to. I enjoyed the story immensely and Pearl Hewitt's narration brought it beautifully to life. I have enjoyed many of her other narrations for Abigail Reynolds, P O Dixon, and Maria Grace. She keeps her character's voices consistent throughout the story and her French accents are perfect. Each character's voice is distinct and there is no uncertainty as to who is speaking.

Great Book!
Any additional comments?
Great Book!
This is the first book in The Code Breaker Series by Jacki Delecki and narrated by Pearl Hewitt. If you love a great historical romance with mystery and wonderful characters then you need to listen/read this book. Lady Henrietta Harcourt is England’s most intelligence code breaker. Lord Cordelier (Cord) Rathbourne is England’s new Director of Intelligence and is willing to do anything to protect the Harcourt family. When Henrietta’s brother ends up missing, they must work together to find him.
The narrator Pearl Hewitt, did a wonderful job, and was very easy to listen too. The narrator did a fantastic job with the different characters and it was easy to get lost in the story while listening. This is the first time I have listened to this narrator, and I am looking forward to listening to more books by her.

Has spies and action but is more of a romance.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes but as a romance rather than an action or spy book.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Although this book does contain spies, intrigue and a super smart heroine, the major focus is the romance that develops between the two main characters, Henrietta and Cord. Set well over a century ago, both characters are fiercely independent and protective of their families. They have experienced loss but are yet to experience love. I enjoyed the discussions that occurred about why each character was the way that they were. Learning the background and personal history.
What about Pearl Hewitt’s performance did you like?
I enjoyed the expression that Pearl uses. I find that her voice is lovely to listen to and that she is able to create a vision of how the author intended the book should be heard.

So well-written and entertaining
Good read, my first from author Jacki Delecki! Wonderful character development. The narrator did a good job of mixing her voice inflections to give character to the characters. Action and suspense (and romance) build throughout the book, until near the end you can’t wait to turn the next page! I look forward to the second book.

Regency romance with a modern heroine & great plot
I loved this book, mainly because I found the protagonist relatable. I am a little tired if the regency romance genre , but decided to try this one based on reviews. The heroine was a fantastic, smart m, engaging character with her own life and strengths. The storyline kept me engaged throughout the book, and the writing style was fantastic with excellent world building. Good performance as well. Will definitely try more from this author.
