Summary

Orson Welles' dramatic anthology series Mercury Theatre on the Air, infamous for its Halloween broadcast of The War of the Worlds, found a sponsor and became Campbell Playhouse in December 1938. The program continued to feature the charismatic and fiery Welles as both a host and an actor. The great Lionel Barrymore portrayed Ebenezer Scrooge in Campbell Playhouse's annual performance of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

old traditional recording

I loved it. it was old. it was made before televisions were everywhere and it makes you have that lovely feeling of the family hurdles around the radio listening to a Christmas classic.

A Christmas Carol Full of Warmth from Times Past

We adore this version of a Christmas Carol. It actually sounds like times past & immediately one is transported into Dickens world. If you like the old atmosphere at Christmas, then this is for you.
