Summary

Gerald Dickens, great, great grandson of Charles Dickens, reads this traditional Christmas tale, in which Ebenezer Scrooge is taught the true meaning of Christmas by a series of ghostly visitors.

Published in 1843, A Christmas Carol has become as much a part of Christmas as trees and stockings, plum pudding and mistletoe, enjoyed by children and adults alike.

This audiobook includes a special feature, as family member Gerald Dickens recounts his understanding of this classic story.

One of my favourite books... Brilliant.

I love this book and read it every December - but listen to it from October onwards when pottering around the house or in the car. Really good rendition of a classic book.

Best narrator anywhere!

Gerald Dickens is a great voice for his great grandad's books....he varies his speech to suit the characters, he enunciates properly, and he makes the stories live. I have bought all of his narrated books...I love them!

I listened to this one straight through while at the gym. I may listen to it again.

My highest recommendation.

I didn't care for the narrator

Certainly one of the best stories of all time. Narration, in this instance, is everything.

What a joy! Dickens read by Dickens!

I have heard about Gerald Dickens' one-man show of "A Christmas Carol," but never had the opportunity to see it. I was thrilled when I saw his recording in the Audible collection. There is something remarkable about an ancestor of the classic writer bringing his great-great-great grandfather's work to life. Not only is Gerald Dickens a "Dickens" he is a gifted actor. He brings a unique voice to a book that has been recorded and adapted countless times.

I strongly recommend this book and hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Oh, very important, the recording has a coda that would be easy to miss if you turn off the book at the usual ending. Trust me, the little gift, at the end of the story, is worth waiting for and listening to.

The spirits of Christmas past, present and future!

The spirits of Christmas past, present and future for me!
We took turns reading this classic out loud growing up. To have it be narrated by his great, great grandson while I’m busy preparing for Christmas is a delightful gift I give to myself!
God bless us everyone!
