Summary

Ninety-nine financial terms you should know.

Whenever you hear someone speak personal finance, do you feel like you’re learning a foreign language? Do you feel lost when reading or hearing financial terminology from your bank, insurance, or investment agent or the IRS? You’re not alone!

Financial ignorance carries significant costs and results in spending more on transaction fees and getting overextended with debts as you are a ripe prospect for predatory practices. If you cannot comprehend basic financial concepts, such as interest compounding and financial risk diversification, you're paying higher transaction fees, you pile up unmanageable debts, and you also end up paying higher interest on loans.

Well-being and freedom starts with financial education.

It's the single biggest skill that can ensure economic well-being and freedom. In modern parlance, it is known as financial literacy. It is a combination of financial awareness, knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual financial well-being.

If you have a grasp of financial principles, you are able to better understand and negotiate the financial landscape and avoid financial pitfalls.

The good news is that you don’t have to be an accountant or a financial planner to negotiate in the world of business finance. This practical glossary contains 99 important and most commonly used business finance terms and definitions in alphabetical order. It was written with an emphasis to quickly grasp the context without using jargon.

Every financial term is explained in detail, with clear and concise article style description and practical examples.

The 99 terms in this book will equip you with the most needed financial knowledge and skills. They will strengthen your attitude and belief in yourself to make and exercise informed, confident, and timely money management decisions.

Improve your financial outcomes

In the year 2018, I have listened a audiobook called "The Money Deception by Thomas Herold" and get the impression good about the content but I just felt quite uneasy after listened the narration cause the pace was fast and sound was not so smooth to feel real motive. But in this new year of 2019, Herold does provides a few heard it before for free advice around financial awareness, savings, the IRS etc and covers it at a very high level. That's fine because her goal, as I see it, and the the main thrust of the course is to get the persons to the realization that the financial freedom formula is really the 'freeing' of oneself by changing the relationship we have with ourselves and thereby changing the relationship we have with money. Holistically for lasting financial change or any change for that matter. The lessons on how anyone cope with financial principles and negotiate the financial landscape and avoid financial pitfalls. The idea that how we handling our money is a reflection of our emotions I think is a game changer for those who would subscribe to the idea. Herold provides the tools which enable a deep evaluation of our current financial outcomes and more importantly, he provides some tools to helps to make real and lasting change in how we can relate to our money and how to create positive change in our financial situations, in here every financial term is explained in detail, with clear and concise article style description and practical examples.. I found this course to be pragmatic, reasonable, actionable and motivational. Any attempt to make personal life change takes works and there will be resistance. Joan covers that topic well also. This course length is 7 hrs and 9 mins, which is very purposeful and deliberate in getting to the meat of the message. I really enjoyed this course and have listened to a few lessons again already after having completed the course in one sitting (with taking some rest). The narrator Mr. William Bahl was a pleased to listen to. I was truly engaged for all of the lessons. If your season of life right now has you searching for new ways to understand your money and improve your financial outcomes then I highly recommend this course from Mr. Thomas Herold.

Combination of financial awareness

Thanks for the great, comprehensive introduction to the subject, with some very nice practical advice. I was awed by the overview of financial markets, felt compelled to dive in with the following practical advice and examples and believe I am at least aware of the most of the basics in this field at this point.
I just want to point to some potential informations which can shortly give listeners a better idea:
1) This audiobook is the combination of financial awareness, knowledge, and skills which can make sound financial decisions and can helps achieve individual financial well-being through step by step directions.
2) After listened twice I really get the desired financial knowledge and skills that really helps my attitude and belief to make and me much confident and also I can now take those money management decisions confidently.
At the end as the authors says, like having difficulties of financial terminology from the bank, insurance, or investment agent or the IRS? Seriously now I feel umm not alone and get the real soution what I was looking for since so many years! The way this book is guided , I wish if the release date was 05-22-15 not 19 :( Hope I will cope up with my recent situations also... I just want to say please try it.

Thumps up for the quality narration

This is my first review here on Audible. I have bought one other course from Herold but this one came much later. I've listened so many audible on that topic and none of them are good and detailed as Herold's courses. I had some expensive courses in which the author didn't explain all the things in same importance. Some people might say in audiobook the same things repeats a lot of stuff, but thats a good thing in my opinion because you're going to forget a lot of things. This audiobook if good if you're a complete beginner in financing like me. I had listen the book of Jeremy J. Siegel - Stocks for the Long Run it's a great book if you're a complete beginner. After that book I decided to study this course, it made everything much easier. I prefer real examples over books since it's easier to follow what the author does on the topics. I'm almost done with this course and ready to study this over and over, I already bought few many of other courses and I'm glad that in few books I have already got what I was looking for. I can recommend this course to anyone. Keep on the great work Mr.Thomas Herold and also thumps up for the quality narration.

Shares information with commitment

Amazing - rarely does one see an instructor who shares information with such commitment, so truly from the heart and also the narrator as well who is never patronizing, always sharing on an equal level, and one can really feel how he wants you to be able to do the best with what he has to give, like a really very good friend would talk to you - very inspiring!! I wish this very interesting holistic approach to finances was more known.

Great book ! Mr. Herolds is very thorough

I recently listen this book after lsitening other Business books of 2019. I enjoyed that one and decided to get this one and it surely is a good listen. I see people saying that all he does is tell personal stories and doesn't tell you what to actually do, which may be true, but i believe he gives you an outline. He's not just gonna be able to tell you go do that because not everyone is gonna have the same story, everyone is different. He's giving you advice on what he believes are steps to gain financial freedom. Never in life will someone just give you a get rich quick plan with steps 1-5. You have to take advice from people who are actually successful and tweak it to your life. If someone is saying that this is a bad book, do not believe them, as they just want a get rich quick booklet. And he even says at the beginning of the book that the book is personal stories and that he can't just tell you exactly how to go about your own life. Simply because it's YOUR life. Listen to what he's saying, take notes and make your own destiny. People expect many handouts now a days and that's frankly part of the book. So to me, this is an excellent read, highly recommended.

Herold Nails It!

Thomas Herold has done what most authors fail to do: explain something to beginners in an understandable way. I cannot say enough good things about this audiobook. It is aimed at beginners in business and finance understanding financial statements is essential to business and investing. If you own your own company, and it is growing, you will have to produce financial statemtns of your own. Unless you are a pure momentum investor, one who follows stock prices without a care for the actual company that this price represents, you will need to listen at and understand financial data. This is the basis of most investing strategies. If you listen at a financial statement as a series of unintelligible tables full of meaningless numbers, accompanied by mind numbing prose, this audiobook will help you out immensely. It offers definitions of the financial terms and explanations of financial tables, using plain language that a non financial person can understand. The book starts with simple examples, and gradually adds on complexity. If you listen the entire book, you will not be an accountant, but you will be able to understand the basic concepts of a company's financial reports. This may only represent the beginning of your investing education, or the high point of your knowledge, but it belongs in every beginning investor's library. I have been investing for over twenty years, and I keep my dog-eared copy in a place where I can easily find it.

Breaking into the analysis field

I cannot tell you how helpful this course has been for me as someone interested in breaking into the analysis field. Financial risk diversification tips were great, the accounting and finance were a great refresher course and the case analysis really added icing on the cake by adding "real world" value. I showed a buddy what I was working on and he is so hooked that that he plans to purchase a python course as we both see the integration of software with accounting/finance knowledge and analyst roles. This course was jam packed with sweet little extras like additional courses (yes, more than one). Sincerely, Very grateful user

Cover alot of the necessary topics

It is a good course, as it tries to cover alot of the necessary topics which would be used in your day to day professional life. The number of exercises challenges are very less, so you will have very little practice. One can practice the exercise that was covered as part of the audio but would have been better if they create new exercises. This practical glossary most commonly used business finance terms and definitions in alphabetical order and it was written with an emphasis to quickly grasp the context without using jargon. Every financial term is explained in detail, with clear and concise article style description and practical examples. The feedback that one gets for the challenges should be more insightful rather than superficial.

perfect for ones that want to learn finance

This book is perfect for ones that want to learn finance, economy, and stocks. Great for an absolute beginner. This audiobook really helps be to have better understanding when I research through websites like investopedie. I was very confused the first time at investopedia and couldn't understand a whole lot. But after listening this audiobook and how simple and easy to understand it is, I can understand finance in general and learn a lot of finance vocabularies with a lot less effort. If I can give it 100 stars, I will

Comprehensive for a newbie + intermediate!

Certainly a comprehensive audio book. A lot of stuff discussed and I'll probably return to some aspects and listen again. Why only 5 stars? I found the section on options to be confusing at times, the way things were referenced as discussed, but not actually discussed. I have the options bundle, so I suspect this problem is remedied there. My advice would be to retool the options section to make everything more seamless-- and yes, I know that is a difficult thing to accomplish.

Offered a considerable amount of valuable informat

I am beyond thrilled with this course. It offered a considerable amount of valuable information, and it was guided in an easy to understand approach. I’ve taken two other online option courses, but still felt confused. There was much more needed information in this course that was left out by the others. Herold is extremely thorough and tremendously knowledgeable. I highly recommend this audiobook.

So far I like Thomas Herold’s lectures.

I think it will take quite awhile to digest all the information in the course, but hope it will prime us to be better investors. This audiobook has been amazing, really wish I would have had this guy as a professor in college! Easy to understand and fun to learn from..I am looking forward to completing this course and doing more of Herold’s courses

Great Course!! Really liked the material and step

I have traded stocks and mutual funds in the past and now that I'm retired I wanted to try option trading. This audiobook was a very good review of the financial markets with a great intro into options. I have already looked up for many more of Herold's more advanced option financial courses. I find Herold is very easy to follow and even my children listening from the bed room commented on this.

Glad I bought this course.

I am going in the reverse order of taking Herold's courses. I previously took Options course and since that was fantastic, I am taking this course as well. This audiobook is also awesome. He really pours in his experience in the course material. I am feeling confident that I would be able to manage my personal investment after this course.

Great narration and easy to understand

When I first began this course, I had no idea how much exposure was missing from my knowledge base. It was great to get a personal look at an expert making decisions on a financial platform. This course has a great instructor and invaluable nuggets of information. I recommend it to all who have an interest in the financial markets. Thanks Herold!

Instructor has an in depth knowledge of the ...

Very good primer before more advanced concepts - I recommend this for everyone just getting into financial markets, it will provide a very brief overview of all possible types of investments, trades and so on. After familiarising yourself with the concept I encourage people to focus on the type of investment that is the most appealing to them and learn about it in more details.

It's good and not too overwhelming

I learned a nice overview of the different financial instruments. I have a TD Ameritrade account and now I know how to use the ThinkorSwim platform more effectively. Everything was explained in layman's terms for those of us not in the business field, so it was easy to understand.
