Story
Editors Randy Chandler and Cheryl Mullenax put the call out to horror writers and editors of extreme stories, the hardcore stuff that breaks boundaries and trashes taboos, the transgressive tales you can't "unread" (as Chuck Palahniuk says). Some of the stories you'll find here are loaded with very graphic descriptions of violence, sex, and depravities, while others may contain only one shocking moment of brutality. In others, the hardcore aspect may be less graphic and subtler than you might expect.

A collection of tales to invade and paralyse the mind as the safe light of day is infiltrated by the shadows of the night. As you listen, the clutching fingers of terror brush lightly across the nape of the neck, reach round from behind to clutch and lock themselves, white-knuckled, around the throat. This is the horror of ordinary people and everyday objects that become strangely altered; a world where nothing is ever quite what it seems, where the familiar and the friendly lure and deceive.

Story
She had it all. But who, or what, had ripped it all away? In the years since singer-songwriter Christy DeCarli won reality show Nashville Dreams, her life has descended into a wretched personal hell. Reeling from the breakdown of her once perfect marriage and terrified by the haunting visions of her recently still born child, she is ready to end her pain. On the other side of the quaint Massachusetts village of Boxforth, God-fearing grandmother Ida Buckley is battling her own demons.
Summary
Did you know that heaven keeps a prisoner? You'll get to meet him soon.
Or that the grim reaper's scythe isn't there to harvest you? It's really to protect you against something on your journey.
I still don't think that's as bad as the time I threw a suicide watching party, or when my sex doll wouldn't stop crying though. Then there was that road trip where we saw the same hitchhiker at every stop for the last hundred miles....
This is a huge collection of 52 psychological horror and supernatural horror stories, the second volume to the Amazon best-selling horror collection, 51 Sleepless Nights.
Inside, you'll find stories about:

Unique short stories.
I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first experience of this author. I'll be honest, I almost abandoned it because the narrator sounded just like the guy who does River Monsters and I couldn't concentrate on the stories! I'm glad I persevered though. I wouldn't say they'll keep me up at night and I probably wouldn't quite label them horror. BUT they are well written and interesting and unique stories. I'll repeat unique - it's hard to do within this very saturated genre. The author clearly has quite an imagination. I love short stories but am curious to see how his ideas would translate to a full length novel.
Thanks for the opportunity to listen & review. Will look out for more.

Some real gems
I love horror short stories. I've never really liked slow drawn out horror as I think something is lost in the padding, so these bite sized pieces are perfect. Some real gems amongst these, particularly the 'that could really happen ' stories involving everyday people. I listened to some of them with growing dread as the horror unfolded. Only deducted one star for narration because although I got used to the narrator he was quite wooden with very little inflection. Off to buy another Tobias Wade.

Too many stories go nowhere.
It seems these were some stories the author wrote down in a journal and never completed his thoughts. I think if he fleshed out some of these, it would gave been better but to me they were all over the place. This is not to say I think the author is a bad writer, just needs work on some of these stories. The narrator had no range and each story and the same tone which made it hard to get through all of them. I received this book for free in exchange for a voluntary unbiased review.

Mostly gripping
as a fan of short story horror compilations to buy a suede does not disappoint. He weaves a tapestry of language that builds character and atmosphere quickly and apparently effortlessly before taking you on a quick ride over and over again. quite a few of these stories were very satisfying and a small handful seems like filler but overall an excellent compilation.

Terrible.
This is the worst experience with a book/short story I have had so far on Audible. The stories either ended abruptly, or the endings did not seem to fit with the story itself, also, maybe three or four were actually decent. The majority of the stories went in a circle, or seemed like the writer turned his brainstorming session into short stories. I had a very difficult time finishing this. I DO NOT recommend this at all, please do not waste your time and/or money. The narrator was also very painful to listen to. I would not recommend listening to any other book/short story he has narrated.

Great stories, ok narration
I love Tobias Wade's short stories, and this collection is a great listen. I wish the book had a more animated narrator, though. Paul Jenkins tends to be a bit monotone, so the stories lose some of their suspense.

Deliciously Dark!
How is Tobias Wade not a writer for American Horror Story yet?! This guy is a brilliant story teller of the darkest variety. I would love to sit down with him for a coffee and ask him loads of questions regarding where he gets his ideas and about his life in general...for someone to come up with this many interesting dark little tales, well, that's unique. I would bet that he grew up reading the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books as a kid (as I did). 52 Sleepless Nights is perfect for anyone who grew up loving the Scary Stories books or Goosebumps or anything along those lines and is now looking for an adult version of that type of entertainment...these stories are creepy to the core and many will leave you thinking (and potentially sleeping with the light on) long after you've finished reading them. This is not my first encounter with this narrator either - he's brilliant, totally professional and excellent at creating a spooky feel with his voice alone. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

52 stories!! I was excited. There are some great stories in this collection. A lot of them. There are also some stories that I didn’t think were so great. They either failed to keep my attention or the ending wasn’t so great.
But there are plenty of stories that are really good with great endings.
