Highly recommended

This is a concise, no nonsense book that doesn't just lay out the work that needs to be done but also provides excellent direction on how to do it.

Prepare to be changed

Great book, I didn't think it was possible but with Chris's help I have increased my word count considerably. I downloaded the app and it is amazing, in that it actually makes me write. I thoroughly recommend this book.

Now Chris needs to write a book on the creative process and setting out the storyline, using the same type of approach - that would be brilliant.

Also, help with editing in the same style as the 5000 word book. Money well spent

A great addition to the series, very inspirational and practical advice and a lot of goof info, data and exercises, - really enjoyed it!

Very helpful for an author who has just started out.

I felt the concepts were easy to follow and made applying them doable. I am always hesitant when listening to a self help book because really I feel it is the authors point of view and everyone processes information differently. This book exceeded my expectations because it has made me feel empowered to move to the next step. And stop being a "seater". I am ready to have a plan and go forward. I would recommend this book for any and all because there is very useful information that can help you improve not just in writing but everywhere.

Great motivation book with great tips on writing

Love this short and to the point book on learning ways to start writing. I got the kindle version along with the audible companion. This book is well written, and to the point. I recommend this to anyone with writers block or a fear of writing.

Excellent

Full of BFOs... Blinding flashes of the obvious. Definitely worth a few dollars and the attention to listen a few times if you truly seek the goal.

Would love to hear a slight variation on this for bloggers. The emphasis seems to be on writing fiction. Much of this could apply to non-fiction as well.

Practical Advice with Inspiration & Encouragment

Any additional comments?

I had read this book when it first came out, but when I saw the audio version, I snapped it up. I'm glad I did. I think I got something different from listening to it, and it was a nice reminder of all that I'd read before.

This book is filled with practical advice as well as encouragement. I also find it to be inspirational, but not in a woo woo way. It's more that I can now see the steps I can take to improve my writing in many different ways and that is both inspiring and encouraging.

I think the audiobook is well worth a listen. If you haven't already read the book, it comes with exercises at the end of every chapter, though these are also listed at the end of the book as well. The narrator reads these out, but this audiobook does not appear to come with a PDF list of the exercises. Even so, they are simple enough, so I don't think that would be a serious problem if you don't already have the Kindle version or the paperback.

A Gem for Authors New and Old

I loved the ideas and advice in this book. The book unfortunately did include some less-than-savory language but it was minimal. Thanks Chris, awesome book that I will be re-reading and practicing until I likewise achieve Olympian heights.

Very inspiring and practical

I am utilizing one of the things I learned from the book to write this review. I.e. dictation. Chris Fox gives us a set of tools that is just the right length to be useful and not so many that it is overwhelming. He selected the best ones And I’m really excited about the increase in my productivity that will come as I begin to use them.

Listened running

Many of the suggestions in this book I've found in other books and workshops. That said, it's a short listen and I'm glad I brought it. Whenever I get stuck writing is good to get a reminder of systems that work and how to build up (and maintain them). The only thing I was hoping for that was not there is more direction on editing effectively. I find that it takes me more than the two suggested passes to develop a legible 'alpha reader' draft. Hopefully he'll write a book on that.

hard work pays off

This book has some good information, and is realistic in what expectations it sets. You have to work hard to get better and achieve your goals, but the exercises in this book will help you get there if you are disciplined.

A no BS guide to getting it done.

If you bought this book thinking it would turn you into an Author by osmosis...well, you'll be disappointed. If you bought this as a road map, a guide, for a lifelong journey you will not be misled. Solid outline, useful lessons, and an easy read, this is a book to add to my toolkit. Happy wordsmithing.
