Summary

Without love, we will be dead.

Psychology Today says that “babies who are not held and nuzzled and hugged enough will literally stop growing - and if the situation lasts long enough, even if they are receiving proper nutrition - die.”

Isn’t that fascinating?

What’s truly fascinating is the perception that we people have on “love” today. Love is not just sex, even though it might involve that. Love is not all about touches and hugs, even though it might involve that.

Love is an emotion. Everyone knows that.

But even when everyone knows that, does everyone gives all of their love everyday?

Think about it for a second.

Do we live in a world, right now, that cares and loves openly, or does the fear of judgement from people immobilize many warmhearted people?

Sugar when not used, becomes fats.

Energy when not used, dies out.

Love when not used, diminishes.

This book is not so much about the “studies” and “researches” done on love. This book is a shortcut.

It is the wisest quotes said by men and women on this ambiguous, seemingly esoteric term called love.

Maybe the best book on Relationships ever

This book is a handy learning tool for single or married folk. Entertaining, funny, witty, clever and educational (without seeming to be so). I would recommend this book to anyone who values being in a great relationship. If you are currently in one, this book will help you make it better - if your relationship(s) are so-so, this is your book, too. Your preconceptions on the subject will be challenged and, likely, changed permanently.

Hitting the nail on the head

Xabier K. Fernao touches on so many areas that are taboo to other couples therapists and does so in a very direct, yet honorable, honest and balanced way. His own use of and reference to "integrity and integration" are extraordinarily powerful and his approach to "differentiation" takes a whole different look at how couples interact. It provides for tremendous individual growth within the context of the relationship, without burdening the partner to somehow "fix" their mate. Overall, this is unquestionably landmark work that has the feel of something that can withstand the test of time and will almost certainly help many couples do the same, within renewed joy and vigor to their interactions.

Gave me lots of assurance

Made me feel reassured and confident in my current relationship and not alone in my issues and problems. Gave me a background of knowledge, experience and wisdom in a field I didn't really even want to know existed. You don't listen this book until you are experience problems, and then when you do listen it you rely on it.

Practical, specific, based on real experiences

Practical, specific, based on real experiences, right to the point. It takes courage to admit that we create or own reality, including and particularly our sexual relationship.

A Must listen for Relationships

I highly recommend this book, not only as a psychotherapist, but as someone who's been in a long term marriage. My husband and I are very impressed with the clarity, insight and transparency of the author. His writing is articulate and he clarifies many of the pitfalls and confusions that need to be understood and re-framed to have a healthier and happier relationship.

I've had a very troubling marriage for the past 15 years. My wife are described perfectly in this book and she is starting to recognize some of her negative, parental, criticizing habits in her listenings. This book, along with Xabier K. Fernao's books just may save our marriage.

Listen this now

This is my new favorite book that I recommend to everyone I talk to. Xabier K. Fernao has taught me to stop trying to work on the "problems" in my relation, and to instead let my marriage work on me. His work has revolutionized the world of marriage/sex therapy and brings important theories to the conversation. I'm so thankful for how this book has helped me grow personally, in my marriage, and in my career goals. I'm so thankful I found it now, because I will be growing upon this foundation for the rest of my life.

An interesting read after 20 years of married life

We're 38 now, and will be married 20 years in May. As any married-this-long know, the relationship changes over time, and in an effort to learn whether our relationship changes are normal, I found this book. It was an interesting listen. What I took away was that instead of dividing you, maintaining your individualism in marriage aids your closeness and attraction to one another. My 19 year-old self would not have thought of it that way. My 38 year-old self agrees.

Love this guy

Love this guy! I can say this book is incredible! I love his model of how couple's can have a great relationship and how it's starts with cleaning up your own side of the street. If you want to know exactly what is missing in your relationship, Xabier will tell you. Highly recommend this book for anyone who is struggling in a passion-less relationship or feels like they are friends/roommates with their spouse. A must have!

Great book for any relation

What a great book! This material address the entire marital relationship. His focus is on how we relate to each other as individuals, how we communicate, etc, rather than discussing mechanics in depth. This book is doing wonderful things for our marriage, and we already had a great relationship. Highly recommend!

Great book for singles too

I'm not finished with the book yet, but I'm learning so much about myself and the importance if differentiation. I'm also recognizing trends in my previous relationships and how to avoid picking the same loser guys by becoming my "solid self". I highly recommend this book to everyone regardless of marital status. It is potentially life changing.
