Summary

How often do you get to the end of another long and frantic day and wonder why so many important things didn't get finished? We've never worked so hard and felt so unproductive and unfulfilled. 18 Minutes takes this challenge and turns it on its head. Peter Bregman, top Harvard Business Review columnist and global management consultant, shatters the myth of getting it all done by offering a clear and simple plan for getting the right things done. He shows how the best way to fight distracting interruptions is to create productive ones ourselves, a practice that can be easily implemented in 18 minutes a day. The result is a simple yet comprehensive approach to managing your life a year, a day, and a moment at a time so that your life moves forward the way you want and at the pace you want.

Simple and powerful ideas. He cites good researchs often. Very actual and useful in modern days problems of productivity and success.

Pretty Good But Better Titles Available

This is a pretty good book on time management and productivity, but nothing particularly groundbreaking here are you can get from other books. I also felt like the first half of the book was quite heavily padded out and could've been more concise. Much of the practical advice comes in the second half and these were my takeaway chapters:

28, 30, 32, 47, 49, 51 & 53

Simplicity

Simple practical advice told in Memorable narrative. I've explored many books about this subject. Peter gets it right with wisdom.

Excellent

Refreshing insights on managing your life and making effective use of your time by making simple choices.

Acknowledges the variety and depth of challenges we all face in this fast paced, technological age where expectations are unsustainably high both of ourselves and others.

Encourages you to think what your actual priorities are, to focus on those and learn to let other less important things go - it is tougher than you think!!

It is quick and easy to follow and you can take from it what you want, there is no underlying 'pressure' to complete exhausting and extensive self analysis often found in books of this genre.

It does offer valuable experience that can be applied in your own personal and professional life, to help improve the performance of your business and encourage you to have a more fulfilling and enjoyable personal life.

Well done Mr Bergman and thank you for persisting and maintaining your focus!

My one thing - I choose to reduce the influence of my mobile phone and focus on being present with my family, my business etc so I am not wasting that valuable time messing with my mobile phone!
