Summary

101 Spanish Phrases You Won't Learn in School The Key to Sounding like a Native Speaker: Idioms & Popular Phrases You Don't Learn from Textbooks. Rapidly Increase Your Vocabulary (Beginner-Fluent)

So you've learned the basics in Spanish class. You know how to say, “¿Cómo estás?” or “¿Dónde está el baño?” or “¿Cuantos años tienes?” but how do you take it to the next level?

Discover one of the most important, yet often one of the most overlooked, aspects of a language idioms and popular phrases in common use. Think about how in English so much of what we say is full of expressions and figures of speech and idioms.

We say things like “dime a dozen”, or “beat around the bush”, “cutting corners”, “speak of the devil”, etc. Plus, there is so much slang and so many phrases in popular use especially with young people: “To have a crush on someone”, “I'm all set”, “I'm down for that”, etc. Plus there are so many slang words we use that have other meanings in popular use like “cool”, or “sick”, or “lame”, etc. This is the same if not even more common in the Spanish language.

If you want to be able to understand people and speak comfortably, you will find it almost impossible without a healthy knowledge of popular idioms, words, and phrases used by native Spanish speakers. This book will teach you 101 of the most popular Spanish idioms and phrases that take you far beyond the basics you may have learned in school.

You will learn:

  • The English and Spanish version of the idiom/phrase
  • The explanation of how to use this idiom or phrase in common speech and when is an appropriate time to use it
  • Examples of casual dialogue in both Spanish and English to show you the context of how this phrase is used
  • You can practice repeating each phrase to help commit it to memory and work through the pronunciation

Unlock an entire new level of ability, and gain the street-knowledge and confidence to have real conversations in Spanish.

Good course

Good course but I'm still finding it difficult to assimilate the vocabulary within the time allowed for repetition.

Great for intermediate and up, but there errors

Overall I am pleased, because I was introduced to nice new expressions. There are a few errors though, like “quieres darse por vencido” instead of “quieres darte por vencido”. This is why I wouldn’t recommend it for beginners. Also, I like the repetition of the actual expressions, but I wish the practice dialogues were repeated as well.

This book is needed while learning

if you're like me and ready to say more than "you're welcome: De nada", then this is a must purchase. I was not expecting much since the price was reasonable however I made a fantastic decision in purching this audio book. Love the conversations and how they broke down the content in using these phrases. I finish the book in a matter of day but I will continue to repeat for fluency. if you're goal in learning Spanish is to sound like a native and be able to carry on a true conversation, this audio book is for u.

Wrong Grammar

This is not done by Mexican native speakers.
Example Chapter 31: La proxima mes instead of el proximo mes.
These things must not happen in such an audiobook

Nice Book!

This book is perfect for those who want the last. As I have been trying to digest this book I wanted to let you all know that this book is equipped with most common phrases that you will need in case you will be traveling in the continent of South America or acquainted to someone who is a native Spanish, might be a good surprise that you are able to understand and speak even a little with them. I got this book for a fair price and able to post this review.
