Alison Weir’s first published work, 1989's Britain's Royal Families, was a genealogical overview of the British royal family. She subsequently went on to write biographies of figures including Elizabeth of York, Mary Boleyn and Margaret Douglas, the Countess of Lennox. In 2006, Alison fulfilled a life’s ambition to write historical fiction and was praised for offering a new, fresh perspective on the genre.
