The band of scoundrels known far and wide as the Bastard Champions - the swashbuckling trio who travel a world of legend, seeking adventure and righting wrongs - as long as there's enough gold to be earned.

Fun takes on tales of old, and an intriquing mix of characters, especially the scoundrels. Absolutely fell for this universe and its inhabitants; would love to read more.
Really enjoyed the delivery/ performance too. Great way to hear a great story

A magical serial killer is on the loose, and gelatinous, otherworldly creatures are infesting the English countryside. Which is making life for the Ministry of Occultism difficult, because magic is supposed to be their best kept secret. After centuries in the shadows, the Ministry is forced to unmask, exposing the country's magical history - and magical citizens - to a brave new world of social media, government scrutiny, and public relations.

This is high action, ideas driven noir SF of the highest order. Morgan has already established himself as an SF author of global significance. Takeshi Kovacs has come home. Home to Harlan's World. An ocean planet with only 5 percent of its landmass poking above the dangerous and unpredictable seas. Try and get above the weather in anything more sophisticated than a helicopter and the Martian orbital platforms will burn you out of the sky. And death doesn't just wait for you in the seas and the skies.

Binging the series, I hadn't checked narrator changes, just dived in... oh dear... two books worth of explicitly being told that Kovacks' 'cks' has a soft slavic 'ch' sound it was very jarring to have it mispronounced every time. Combined with dodgy effects that were well meaning but just off it made it a hard comedown for the third instalment.
All that and even more shoehorned bizarre and laughably detailed 'intimate' scenes don't make this an essential read/ listen

Rotherweird is a twisted, arcane murder-mystery with shades of Deborah Harkness, Hope Mirrlees and Ben Aaronovitch, Mervyn Peake and Edward Gorey at their disturbing best. The town of Rotherweird stands alone - there are no guidebooks, despite the fascinating and diverse architectural styles cramming the narrow streets, the avant-garde science and offbeat customs. Cast adrift from the rest of England by Elizabeth I, Rotherweird's independence is subject to one disturbing condition: nobody, but nobody, studies the town or its history.

Loved the concept and the story. It was enjoyable and I was intrigued from the get go, through a great ride; however, I've never used the rewind button as much.
Split second perspective changes would probably be fine in text, but the pace often threw me off and I had to back track, taking me out of the immersion. By no means bad performance, thought the characterisations were great, just needs a lot of concentration.

There's something going bump on the Metropolitan line, and Sergeant Jaget Kumar knows exactly whom to call. It's PC Peter Grant's specialty.... Only it's more than going 'bump'. Traumatised travellers have been reporting strange encounters on their morning commute, with strangely dressed people trying to deliver an urgent message. Stranger still, despite calling the police themselves, within a few minutes the commuters have already forgotten the encounter - making the follow-up interviews rather difficult.

Years have passed since the Vagrant journeyed to the Shining City, Vesper in arm and Gamma's sword in hand. Since then the world has changed. Vesper, following the footsteps of her father, journeyed to the breach and closed the tear between worlds, protecting the last of humanity but also trapping the infernal horde and all those that fell to its corruptions - willing or otherwise. In this new age, it is Vesper who leads the charge towards unity and peace, with seemingly nothing standing between the world and a bright new future.
