I quite enjoyed this book it really did open me up to the Spanish Civil War and lead me to do more research about that time. But I found the story in the present day and its link to the past a little bit contrived.

I really like Ludlum it is an awesome writer and this is a great story of a man on a mission and quite literally getting attacked from all sides, with his enemies so close yet so far. Its a story of a person getting messed about on a truly massive scale and I really liked the reader.

A very good book that is a good look at that particular moment in time and it real could be all made up but it crazy that it really happened. I like Kate Summerscale's writing and story development, it really leaves a lot of a questions unanswered and leaving you wanting more. I liked the reading very well done.

Have to say the first was the best but this was superb and so much fun seeing every unfold the way it did, some strong emotions come out and it really does make you cry, but still so so good, and by this third book I am really loving and falling in love with Carolyn's voice lol

I am sorry but this is not a great book and I did not like it at all, the exploration of remorse is not a good idea for a book as it's a boring subject matter. Written well, the word-smith is very good but the story is lacking and I was left disappointed by the whole thing. The beginning promised so much and the ending did not deliver, but the narrator was great.
