I was so deeply moved by this book, I thought it was even better than "1776." I served in the Navy for 12 years and did NOT know that John Adams is the father of the United States Navy. He was not only a true patriot and signer of the Declaration of Independence but he was also the first visionary and advocate of the need for strong American sea power. I am so grateful to Mr. Adams. This book is now my 1 favorite in my entire library. I was so touched to see in person the portraits of John and Abigail Adams at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC it was a total surprise and after listening the book, I felt quite touched and even teared up a bit seeing the portrait in person. This book makes you feel like you really know John Adams. I would have liked to have him as a mentor or a colleague.

I never realized how much I would learn about the world preceding and during WWII. I also see parallels today where the word of God is being mutated to fit the agenda of a humanist world society. I also got further confirmation that as Christians, we must study all of the word and not just the New Testament. Bonhoeffer believed that the Bible had to be studied from an academic position but not without a relational position with God. To all that believe that Christianity is a means to prospering, this book will set you straight. Bonhoeffer was a very blessed man but not in a way that most American Christian's count blesssings. A must listen

Amazing book! So much I did not know about the war in the Pacific. No wonder my mother's uncle had a complete breakdown after being on that hell-hole island. Very interesting about MacArthur and Truman. They are not exactly anything but a footnote in school history books, if they are mentioned at all today.

If everyone lived their life according to these tenets the world would be a happier place. I sent this to my 19 year old grandson, who had been questioning his approach to life and all the different he listen it he called me and said that he "could not thank me enough". He even called his little brother and has been counseling him on what kind of person he should become. I will be purchasing more copies in the future as gifts.
