I didn’t read this heyer in my teens as I thought it sounded a bit miserable. I suppose it’s not her best but it has plenty of charm. I thought Jilly Bond’s narration was very good as well, plenty of variation in characterisation and a likeable heroine.

Thrilling narrative, very well read

I read this as a teenager and wasn’t keen as it’s not a conventional regency but now I’m older I really appreciate all the historical detail, I’ve been googling all the fascinating characters and military heroes. Excellent narration by Claire Higgins.

Very enjoyable. Would much prefer it unabridged for the full Diana Wynne Jones charm. Tom Baker is a very good, engaging reader, although I had imagined a smoother Chrestomanci voice, but very well done in any case.

I love this book. My absolute favourite of the earthsea series. I read the trilogy over 30 years ago as a teanager and the tombs of Atuan was my favourite, and I wanted Ged and Tenar to get together, I was so glad when I discovered the sequel. Ursula le Guin was master story teller. Great narration. I see audible has just added a wizard of earthsea. Please release the whole series unabridged, and please do the same fur Diana Wynne Jones’ books.
