Yes it’s been done before but this book has an excellent blend of characters science and pace. Believable and strong storylines make for an excellent listen. Narration very good apart from a very bizarre and mainly laughable attempt by the narrator to attempt a Scottish accent. It doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyability as the narrator is excellent in all other respects. Going to get started on Book 2 now. 😎

Nice idea but there are many free podcasts out there that follow the same idea but do it much better. This was far too clever for its own good. The characters were one dimensional with no time to develop proper personalities. Maybe that was because of citizen journalism ... style not substance. Having said all that the cast were ok and it was free and listenable to.

Robert Charles Wilson, says The New York Times, "writes superior science fiction thrillers." His Darwinia won Canada's Aurora Award; his most recent novel, The Chronoliths, won the prestigious John W. Campbell Memorial Award. Now he tells a gripping tale of alien contact and human love in a mysterious but hopeful universe.

I downloaded this just before trip to see family in New Zealand. The holiday been amazing and this book has just added value to a lazy 2 days. It strikes me as a cross between Stephen King's The Shining and John Carpenter's The Thing. Very clever, suspenseful and with not a little philosophy about a meaningful life. The characters came across well especially towards the climax and the setting well researched and believable. The narrator is also extremely good. Managed to get the tension across with the right pace and emphasis. All in all one of the best listens I have had.

Two years after vanishing into the Sudanese desert, Professor Harold McCabe comes stumbling out of the sands, but he dies before he can tell his story. Then an autopsy uncovers a bizarre corruption: someone had begun to mummify the professor's body—while he was still alive. Subsequently, the medical team who had performed the man's autopsy has fallen ill with an unknown disease. Fearing the worst, a colleague of the professor reaches out to Painter Crowe, the director of Sigma Force. The call is urgent, for Professor McCabe had vanished into the desert while searching for proof of the ten plagues of Moses.
