Brilliant book. The author did a fantastic job and was sympathetic to these poor women.

A sad, gripping book that deserved a decent narrator rather than an American trying to do a Romanian accent. You do get used to her over the top 'Count Dracula' impression though and it's worth sticking with it because this book is excellent.

A beautifully written book by Lucy Worsley. Not complicated at all and very easy to listen too. I highly recommend if you are interested in Queen Victoria and this era.

Very enjoyable audio book with great acting and atmosphere. Mansfield Park was excellent in particular. I would've given the whole book 5 stars but I found Persuasion a bit too confusing, so I only gave it 4.

Great book and very interesting. Was totally gobsmacked when she mentioned one of my relatives in the book...I had no idea!

Only got half way through as I found it very depressing. The idea was excellent, but just a bit too sad for me.

A fantastic book written by Ruth Goodman and narrated by the brilliant Patience Tomlinson. It's the perfect combination! This book is a 'must' for fans of Victorian domestic history. Ruth gives an interesting and amusing insight into Victorian life and I loved it. Well done Ruth, please do the Edwardian era next!

Overall it's a good audiobook outlining the Victorian Period.

However, early on in the book I noticed a few annoying inaccuracies eg: the author referring to Fanny Adams as a ''young woman cut up by her lover'' This is incorrect as it's well known that Fanny Adams was a 8 year old girl murdered by 29 year old bank clerk (not a lover!). Unfortunately, this glaring mistake made me doubt other facts. Narrator had a good voice though and on the whole this audiobook is ok.
