This is a great book. Honestly though, it is really made so much better by the narration. Michael Sheen is terrific. I really wish that Philip Pullman would get him to narrate the original three books in His Dark Materials. They deserve it. Can’t wait for the next book!

This was a thought-provoking piece of work. Where do the boundaries lie between what it is to be human, and what it is to be "enhanced"? That, as well as the nature of relationships and what are the strings that bind us, are themes that are beautifully explored here. I enjoyed the lyricism of the writing, and the dialogue felt real to me. It also has to be said that the voice artists were really well-chosen. This was a terrific performance from both the main protagonists. The flow of time and technology will open its hands and tell all. Cambridge University has recently been gifted £150 million to investigate the ethics of artificial intelligence, and Elon Musk has commented that AI is more dangerous than Nuclear weapons. We live in interesting times. Open my heart and watch it ticking and you will find it resonating with Carla's vignette. Have a listen. It will be time very well spent.

Good parable. Definitely made me think

Good. But too short. It's more like a novella. It's only 140 pages and ends rather abruptly. She should have simply carried on the narrative and explored how these ideas about time play out in the real world, rather just having a fluffy ending. In reality we all face challenges around deciding on priorities on a moment by moment basis, and this never explored this properly. It had a good setup to explore that, then just ended. Should really have been double the length, and explored this dimension of time management. Good though. Worth a listen.
