The narration was terrific, the narrators ability to do different accents is exceptional. The story is built layer upon layer and can be slow at times and the experiences of the main character are rather far fetched. The end is very exciting and the writing is very good however

The narration was good. I was disappointed with the the story as there was not much detective work on the part of the detective who seemed to stumble around the edges of the crime never getting to grips with it. There was a lot of background on his work situation and office politics. The characters were well drawn and perhaps the author is setting the scene for future books. I will probably listen to the next one

I found the understated, breathy delivery very irritating. The narration was delivered in a low voice almost monotone at times but I persevered as I wanted to hear the story which was good if somewhat unbelievable in terms of the culprits motivation

I agree it could be slightly too long if you were to read it but the narration is so good you are completely caught up in the characters, can't wait for the next one

loved it, story is clever and the narration is wonderful. Strike and Robin's characters are further developed and the story is well constructed, keeping you guessing all the time

I did enjoy it but I found the plot, particularly events concerning Jackson himself very unlikely and contrived given the character we have got to know.

Loved everything about it, the story was excellently woven, the narration was terrific. Kate writes so well and clearly has a great understanding of the human condition .One small observation the Irish name Niamh is pronounced Nive, one syllable!
