A Shivering of Worlds. Deep in the Chalk, something is stirring. The owls and the foxes can sense it, and Tiffany Aching feels it in her boots. An old enemy is gathering strength. This is a time of endings and beginnings, old friends and new, a blurring of edges and a shifting of power. Now Tiffany stands between the light and the dark, the good and the bad. As the fairy horde prepares for invasion, Tiffany must summon all the witches to stand with her. To protect the land. Her land.

What did you like most about The Shepherd's Crown?

That this was a Terry Pratchett book cannot be denied. We were allowed one last golden look into the world of the Discworld and what a look it was. With a start that tugged on the heart strings it never let them go, carrying you through a tale that deserved to be told. A must for any fan, but how could it have been anything else?

Have you listened to any of Stephen Briggs’s other performances? How does this one compare?

As always Stephen Briggs's performance bring a life to Terry Pratchett's work that keeps that familiar tone and keeps you engaged in the story from beginning to end.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I did.

Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her 'our little genius'. Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells.

Spoilers.

Which character – as performed by Finty Williams – was your favourite?

The Girl with all the Gifts of course.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I could have I would have, but things such as work and sleep got in the way.

Any additional comments?

It has been a long time since an audiobook has gripped me so.

The most engaging and awe inspiring biography I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. Genuinely moving scenes interspersed with humorous tales of events of his travels around the globe. He reads, as anyone would expect, superbly and the hours pass by remarkably quickly. My only disappointment was there was not more to listen to as it was that perfect a listen. My thanks, David Attenborough for sharing this with us.
