Life at the fortified town of Sanctuary is calm. The people, with their fearless leader at the helm, have created a haven where they can live out their lives in peace and safety. But it hasn’t always been this way. There were battles and losses along the way, and victory usually came at a price. With the younger generation coming into their own, it’s time for Leah to pass on all she has learned over the years. Time to tell the stories of how the world became the way it is...starting with the highwaymen of Andorra.

A good read, for those who have followed the series. Readers are aware of the end of the series and are aware of the various life outcomes of our characters. So this series is a good background yarn to see how they got to their, ‘outcome’ and to revisit they’re lives and evolution post; After it Happened!
The audible performer was female which linked it well into Leah’s story. The story is very much like many of the others which propelled the characters to where they are. For me I didn’t want the original story to end, but it had to, for those characters. It would be interesting to to see what happens to the new generations after, After it happened..

Months after the war with Borland and his vicious were-brood, Kirk and Morris are experiencing curious after-effects. They're stronger, faster, and no longer vulnerable to the sharp sting of silver. There is one concern, however. They're forever hungry, and nothing they eat provides the same nourishment as what they consumed on the island of Newfoundland. And when a mysterious stranger rides into Moses Morris's territory wishing to hunt, the were-warden knows the visitor isn't after deer.

Another great progression of the story. What on earth medication s did X take in Floreeda ? As he’s now a killing machine instead of submitting to the diseases associated with fallout etc
Okay the story line is informative as in every book, there’s more information, alliances to come and yes in X’s case predictable but it’s a great alternate “future/post apocalyptic” concept which will have a few more volumes for those who like this series. The characters, the survival types and the world as they know it is evolving and repairing themselves. It seems the battle for survival may be out of the air and not against the elements and each other but man v machine?

Not what I was expecting. As after reading the information about the book. The story follows two timelines, a back story or two and an excellent insight to what extremes men & women did to try and get rich, get away from their social backgrounds and survive and die. Whatever their status. A twist or two as well. And I feel one or two loose ends I’ll have to “re-listen” to for my own closure.
A really good read or listen.

This story had me getting some very funny looks but it’s not a type of you want to listening on your own.
The pace is just right, the fictional characters can be associated with people in today’s society and media.
The author was able to fleet through the years and frightening components that made the story realistic, thorough and very eerie. The description of the historical pathways which brought us to Hope Island are very believable.
Basically, this is a very good listen.
Those of an age who can remember things like Pathe News in the cinemas I’ll bet you’ll gasp during the early stages of the book and have vivid “minds eyes” interpretations of the events of the story.

Read or Listen.
I honestly thought that the story would develop into a repetitive cycle of a survival story mayhem, death and of course, the survival of the fittest, toward a new world ambrosia, using old world beliefs. Supported by power, numbers, followers and weapons.
To some extent it has, is, but with verve, purpose and continued interest in a great group of events, toward a great story. As my heading states, evolution, at cost to the various individuals and groups who perceive that they are "doing the right thing" in order to survive whatever moral codes they use or adapt.
Those reading this review and are at this stage of the story will understand my thoughts and pro's. Those who are thinking of commencing the story of "after it happened", should start as we all should, at the beginning as I feel that this story is up there on apocalyptic novels as the Road, the Stand and especially Children of Men!
I can't wait to commence books five and six.
