I really liked it, the only setback for me was the fact that it had a lot of historical facts, while I would be more interested in Nelson Mandela's thoughts and reflections.
I have no idea whether the unabridged book has some more philosophical content. For me, Mandela is one of the greatest people of all times, a mentor, and spiritual leader, not only political, so I didn't get much from that department.
But it was great to get to know more about this remarkable human being.

Do you sometimes feel as if you're just going through the motions in life? Are you good at looking and acting as if you're fine, but secretly feel lonely and disconnected? If so, you are not alone. The world is full of people who have an innate sense that something is wrong with them - who feel they live on the outside looking in, but have no explanation for this feeling and no way to put it into words.

If this book helped me in anything, that would be it - I am less hard on myself for not being perfect.

This book really opened my eyes and explained a lot about why eating can be such a complicated part of my life. The stories are beautiful and it is so lovely to look at the problem through them. The explanation of their meaning is very clear so I didn't have to invent my own interpretation. Although at first, I was a little bit concerned whether it is not some contrived approach, it turned out to be really down-to-earth.
It was a milestone for my understanding of eating problems.

This book is very good, the scientific data presented in it is really robust and for me (I am a veterinary medicine graduate) it all sounds right, so I would really recommend this book to anyone interested in healthy diets. There is only one "but" - I tried a diet without carbohydrates with high GI for three weeks, meaning I didn't eat any bread, pasta, potatoes and sweets. And to be honest I haven't lost a gram. However, I didn't follow any prescribed diet, I just got rid of these carbohydrates; I am a vegetarian and this approach is strongly based on meat; plus I ate copious portions of my meals during that time. On the bright side, I had a lot more energy.

I read extensively in the field of self-development, self-help and so on. I do it because I want to find some new ways of thinking about self-help in stressful situations when my self-esteem is sliding down. I hate to write something bad about books but I went through this book only to find out that it doesn't discuss anything that I wouldn't be aware of, plus in my opinion, it doesn't give me any useful strategy. I guess it is because now I am looking for some new approaches. If you are new to the topic, then read it. But if you have some history of searching for help from many different sources you might end up a little bit disappointed.

Not so much fly-on-the-wall as cat-on-the-sill, this is the warmhearted tale of a small kitten rescued from the slums of New Delhi who finds herself in a beautiful sanctuary with sweeping views of the snowcapped Himalayas.

This book will not provide you with some ground-breaking wisdom, it touches on the things that, more or less, are common knowledge of what it means to be a good human or cat being, what it means to be happy, joyful or at peace with the world.
What this book does is pure joy of listening to a beautiful story, so soothing for your frayed nerves. It made me feel like immersing in a better place and for these short moments after listening I was a better person until everyday stress caught up with me, but those moments were very precious. That is why I will go back to this book. Oh, one more thing, believe me, I look at my cat now from a little bit different perspective.

What did you like most about A Christmas Carol?

It was so beautifully performed, so touching.

What did you like best about this story?

It made me cry.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favourite?

Of course Ebenezer Scrooge

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, absolutely. The last scene with Scrooge and Bob Cratchit made me cry. No other audiobook ever made me cry! I got very emotional.

Any additional comments?

Just listen to it, even if you know the story very well, it is great reminder - not to be Scrooges to each other:)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Billy Budd, he was so innocent and beautiful.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Enjoy is not a good word, but the scene with Billy, Captain Vere and Claggart was very strange and unsettling.I don't want to give away the plot so I will write no more.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Don't believe what you see.

Any additional comments?

The book is so short but it was somehow a very long read for me. I mean I had a few attempts. The book wasn't easy for me- very long sentences, a lot of unusual or marine vocab, but I finally succeded (with the help of printed book). As it happens with Melville, the book you read is not the whole story, there is a lot of hidden meaning for you to work out, and I must say that immidiately after finishing my listening I went online and found some very interesting essey, which helped me to understand the book. I love what this book has to offer, this is an exceptional read.

Where does Henry VIII's Wives: History in an Hour rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It gives you the feeling of a great gain over a short period of time.

What did you like best about this story?

Nicely and smoothly written, and nicely read.

Any additional comments?

I needed a quick recap on the topic (after listening to The Tudors by G.J. Meyer) and the audiobook served this purpose perfectly. However, I would recommend it also to the listeners who simply want to get to know something about Henry VIII and his wives but don't want to go into extensive reading.
