The first few books were well enough for a bit of pulp fantasy, but the author seems to have lost the plot a bit... quite literally.

He repeats the same lines in the book over and over again. I’m all for seeing what happens, but I get that good old Mr Cabot will ‘sell her in port carr’ the first 5 times! (Along with many other examples of doddering about the story).

The good news is, if you nod off on the train while listening to this book, you won’t have missed much... the author will go over the main point again and again.

Aside from that, I’d heard that the Gor series was a bit of a tough read and not all that amazing (play the narrator at 1.5 speed and it’s not that bad). This is the first in the series that makes me believe it. The main character loses any charm he had and the writing is one dimensional at times.

That said, the books before this one in the series are still worth a look for a bit of classic reading, but maybe I’ll skip the rest if they continue like this.

The first accounting (non) superhero I heard of

This book is like a Marvel movie, D&D game, anime, and an accountant got but in a blender.... in a really really good way. I won't give anything away, but the narrator is fantastic! ...I get bored easily, so I use audible's player to listen to everything on 1.25 to 1.5 speed (which makes reading out numbers not bad at all).
The book is so good in my opinion, that I couldn't stop listening to it even after I got out of the car and just had a 'me' evening or two to keep listening until I finished it.
If I had to recommend any book to superhero fans....this would be it.
