The author really needs to take a break, I think. His books are becoming worse with each one. Take a break and come back with something that isn't so basic.

From the Sunday Times top ten best-selling author of The Psychopath Test, a captivating and brilliant exploration of one of our world's most underappreciated forces: shame. "It's about the terror, isn't it?" "The terror of what?" I said. "The terror of being found out." For the past three years, Jon Ronson has travelled the world, meeting recipients of high-profile public shamings. The shamed are people like us - people who, say, made jokes on social media that came out badly or made mistakes at work.

So insightful. Tragic and funny and as ever Jons delivery is superb. It certainly made me think. Highly recommended.

This is a story about madness. It all starts when journalist Jon Ronson is contacted by a leading neurologist. She and several colleagues have recently received a cryptically puzzling book in the mail, and Jon is challenged to solve the mystery behind it. As he searches for the answer, Jon soon finds himself, unexpectedly, on an utterly compelling and often unbelievable adventure into the world of madness.

I could listen to him talk all day. The subject matter is always interesting and he delivers it with charm, humour and warmth.

Hello. Two things you should know about me: 1) My name is Karen Carpenter. 2) Just before Christmas my boyfriend left me. I’m not THE Karen Carpenter. I just have the most embarrassing name in Christendom. Oh yeah. The boyfriend. After 11 ‘happy’ years he left me. No explanation, just a post it on the kettle. I think I’m handling it really well. I don’t think I’m confused at all. What was my name again?

I've already read and enjoyed this book, but after listening to the audiobook of Jonathan Harvey's other book 'All she wants' on Audible, I had to hear more. All she wants really came to life with its hysterical narration, and I expected the same here. How disappointed I was! The narration on this is completely flat. Phoned in. I couldn't be past the 3rd chapter before giving up. Such a shame/waste. Do yourself a favour and just read the book and use your credit on something else.

What happens when the girl next door becomes ‘that girl off the telly.’ There are some things in life you can always rely on. Living in the shadow of your ‘perfect’ brother Joey, getting the flu over Christmas, and your Mother showing you up in the supermarket. Then there are some things you really don’t count on happening: a good dose of fame, getting completely trashed at an awards ceremony, and catching your fella doing something unmentionable on your wedding day.

Brilliant, hilarious narration by Leanne Best. I'd read the paperback previously, but she totally brings the words to life.
