I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the university at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep. My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me.

A fantastic novel with many twists and turns. it has both a hint Terry Pratchett and a dash of Game of Thrones, so if you have enjoyed those series you should get some pleasure from this.
Although I found the introduction difficult to get into, once the characters are introduced the true story begins. The author has been especially clever and introduce many aspects of his magical world is seemingly mundane circumstances, but pay attention as they all come in later on.

a truly fantastic story, well read by an English narrator who really brings the story to life.

A murder mystery full of twists and turns, romantic dalliances and death a plenty. A good balance of character story to mystery content to make me feel a connection to the character but keep me interested in the crime.

the narration was a little odd, with prolonged pauses in unlikely places and some very loud gulping towards the end. however if you can overlook that it was a good listen.
