Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia. Here he is just another unwanted boy living in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. Yet one day, Achilles takes the shamed prince under his wing. As they grow into young men their bond blossoms into something far deeper – despite the displeasure of Achilles's mother. When word comes that Helen of Sparta has been kidnapped, the men of Greece are called upon to lay siege to Troy in her name.

Struggled to finish because although potentially a great story the characters are very 2 dimensional and quite sickly at times.

My perception of Lestat before I read this novel was of an impulsive, shallow and cruel vampire that never considered the deeper essence of his immortal being. In this novel your ideas change. This Lestat is different than the one we meet in interview with a vampire and Lestat is active in the novel exploration of the nature of a vampire and the existential dilemma caused by their immortality.

A fantastic book which deepens and expands the vampire world that Rice creates. I can't wait to finish and start "queen of the damned".

I studied this book in High school and have always loved it. This audio book brought the characters alive once more and allowed me a perspective into the life of Americans during the depression. An excellent book and an excellent audio rendition.

In this 1962 classic, a novelistic exploration of modern crime and punishment, Alex is the 15-year-old leader of his gang of "droogs" thriving in the ultraviolent future as prophetically imagined by Burgess. Speaking a bizarre Russian-derived slang, Alex and his friends freely pillage and slash their way across a nightmarish urban landscape until Alex is captured by the judicial arm of the state. He then becomes their prized guinea pig in a scientific program to completely "redeem" him for society.

Having always loved the book and like many other "classics" had it sitting on my book shelf for many years I bought the audiobook with the intention of reading the book.

The introduction by the author sets the stall out clearly. This book is different than the film. In fact the ending is so different that it gives a completely different perspective on what it means to be a "Clockwork orange".

A fantastic read and definitely worth purchasing! Amazing.

Here are the confessions of a vampire. Hypnotic, shocking, and chillingly erotic, this is a novel of mesmerizing beauty and astonishing force - a story of danger and flight, of love and loss, of suspense and resolution, and of the extraordinary power of the senses. It is a novel only Anne Rice could write. From the Paperback edition.

I have always loved the film and despite owning the book for a number of years I have never finished it. The book adds a new dimension to the experience of the film as well as highlighting the differences that never made it to the silver screen.

I bought the audiobook with the intention of ensuring it was finished this time and I was not disappointed! An excellent listen that has ensured that my next audible purchase will the Vampire Le Stat.
