Conjured up and era.

Think voices could have been different. Sometimes hard to differentiate between female characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and I did.

Any additional comments?

I am of a certain age and I feel that this book can relate to those strange times in social history when certain things were not acceptable. Slightly different from Rendall's usual form but I enjoyed it. Felt she captured the era so correctly and the characters were well drawn but perhaps not for a younger audience.

I thoroughly enjoyed Book 1 but did find this storyline a bit lacklustre.

Felt the plot was made more complicated than it needed to be and although I usually love Robert Glenister's narration felt that at times even he lost interest. Could have been slightly shorter.

Never having written a review before I felt compelled to do so in this case. Not only did I enjoy the well constructed narrative and characters thought that Robert Glenister's potrayal was superb. I felt as if I were watching a movie in my head and he seemed to be able to give the voices to each character just as I imagined. I shall certainly look for this author and the sublime Robert Glenister again when chosing from Audible.
