The state suspects David Marquette's insanity defence is being fabricated to disguise murders that were cold blooded and calculated. Worse, it believes Marquette may be a suspect in a string of unsolved homicides. The trial will take young prosecutor Julia Valenciano on a personal journey back to a past she has struggled to forget. And it will bring her face to face with a future that is too frightening to face.

I am reading the book alongside listening and was really disappointed to find that the chapters don't match up, some of the text is not even the same and they've changed the surname of the protagonist! I'm sure that, if you are solely listening to the book, it would be fine but it's very frustrating because I think that there may be bits that I have missed. And, potentially, one element of the book which is completely missing. I'm going to "jump ship" and try the 2009 version to see if it's any different.

One very ordinary day, Maya Flowers sees a new commuter board her train. Maya knows immediately and irrevocably that he is 'the one'. But the beautiful man on the train always has his head in a book and never seems to notice Maya. Eventually she plucks up the courage to give the stranger a note asking him out for a drink. And so begins a story of missed opportunities and finding happiness where you least expect it.

A lovely romantic concept but a bit overworked. With regard to the actual recording, the chapter numbers don't marry up to the book and the "male" voices are excruciating! But I still enjoyed it (just) and can imagine it being made into a film.
