This book is a fascinating story set in WWII and told from the perspective of 2 teen-agers, one German and one French. It is truly beautifully written and in turns shocking, thought provoking and intense. It pulls you into their worlds and you live their stories with them. You come to care for both key characters and see them both in their different ways as flotsam blown about by war. The historical background is painted variously as in the foreground or background of the tale, but offers a different perspective from that offered normally by novels set in this period. Enjoy,

This is a very clever plot with fascinating characters. Just when you think you have it worked out it takes a right angle bend and you realise you haven't. I recommend it it's a great listen.

I loved this story, recognising as I did some of the traits of my own cats. The appearance of his father in the story truly enhanced it and I'm sure his phrase WOFAL (watch out for Fuckwits and Loonies) will stay with me for years. I listened to most of tis story the day my own father died and laughed out loud many times - believe me laughter is a great healer and this story is a real tonic.
