I’ve always enjoyed Peter James but haven’t reallly gone outside of his Roy Grace series. Why didn’t I do it earlier!!!!! This is completely magnificent, a thriller, with drama, back stories and an incredible amount of research. I am a complete atheist, so have to admit this had me thinking on all levels. It’s is beautiful read by an outstanding actor and my only disappointment is that it’s now finish. FABULOUS

Enjoyed this and was a good insight to his life. I felt too often the struggles with food and dieting filled more often than was required. We got the message in the first few chapters but it felt like it had to be re-messaged to give the book a bit more pages.

An excellent story of a very brave man fair play. However a very woebegone man where everything in his life past and present has been downtrodden and depressive despite most people having similar upbringings. What did annoy me most was his ego throughout, twice he said ‘as the boss I got to choose the best seat’. Well if you were anything of a leader you would have given the troops the best seats and slummed it out yourself. Also the RN, RM and RAF were heavily involved in that war so constant referrals to ‘soldiers’ is factually incorrect.

Enjoyed this book which was very honest and interesting. The leadership ‘lessons’ and the end of the chapter are a little bit of cringe but otherwise a decent book from a very interesting life.

Decent story, lots of exaggeration on how special he was, some of the stories were too full of BS. Absolute disregard for the RAF even though his grandfather was in that service which doesn’t match up. Deffo worth a read as I’m sure at least 60% is true.

Any music lover, writer, singer, musician or just someone that adores an amazing story must read this book. Certainly the best memoir I have read, full of laughter, sadness, madness and talent. Get it you won't regret it. (That rhymes 🤔)
