This story was a delight when I first read it many years ago. Listening to it, with the superb narration, was like revisiting old friends. Charmed!

Would you listen to The Alloy of Law: A Mistborn Novel again? Why?

I'd probably listen to this story again while on holiday. It is an easy story to engage with and as such lovely to relax to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I especially liked the character of Wayne, with his cheeky chappy attitude mixed with true loyalty and inner wisdom. Just right for a sidekick of any hero.

What does Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Michael Kramer is great at imbuing each character with different voices and breathing life into them. As an English teacher, who loves to read to her classes, I know how hard this can be to maintain.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Any additional comments?

I'm looking forward to listening to the next book in the series.

Would you listen to The Rithmatist again? Why?

Yes, because the story was so complex, filled with twists and turns, that I'd want to listen again to pick up areas that I missed first time round.

What other book might you compare The Rithmatist to, and why?

Ender's Game. The central heroes have a similar feel. They are both underdogs, but ones that are liked by other characters in the stories. You can't help but love them.

What does Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Michael Kramer's voice is becoming quite a familiar one for me, as I've listened through the majority of the Wheel of Time books with him, and listened to the Mistborn series. I like his skills at characterisation, and lose myself in the audible telling almost as much as if I were reading the book myself.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The battle moments in the book were very exciting, and the details made them very easy to imagine.

Any additional comments?

I'm now looking forward to listening to another Brandon Sanderson novel. He's pure genius!

If you're looking at Book 12, you're already hooked. If you've read the books and want to know whether it's worth listening to the audios then YES. For me, it meant I could engage with the story in a completely new way. I was able to continue with the humdrum routines while plugged into the world of Rand, Perrin, Mat, Egwene, Nyneave...

The books are heavy - it's really hard hoovering while holding one!

I'm so close to the finish and have the mixed emotions of excitement and dread. I am excited because very soon the last battle will truly be happening. Dread, because after 16 years with this story, I know it will soon be over. Bitter sweet!

An epic!
