I just can't understand how someone like him could do something like that. Amid the worst drought to ravage Australia in a century, it hasn't rained in small country town Kiewarra for two years. Tensions in the community become unbearable when three members of the Hadler family are brutally murdered. Everyone thinks Luke Hadler, who committed suicide after slaughtering his wife and six-year-old son, is guilty.

Loved the characters & the intrigue in this, all the loose ends tied up nicely at the end.

For fans of Gillian Flynn, Laura Lippman, and Paula Hawkins comes Holly Seddon's arresting fiction debut: an engrossing thriller full of page-turning twists and turns, richly imagined characters, and gripping psychological suspense. Some secrets never die. They're just locked away. Alex Dale is lost. Destructive habits have cost her a marriage and a journalism career. All she has left is her routine: a morning run until her body aches, then a few hours of forgettable work before the past grabs hold and drags her down.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a good story, keeps your interest throughout. Although I found some of the medical facts a little unbelievable towards the end.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character was likeable but weak.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

It was the first book I've listened to with 3 narrators, which made it much more interesting.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When you discover that the victims mother committed suicide, was sad.

Any additional comments?

Keeps your interest, throughout, but would have liked more detail.

The perfect marriage? Or the perfect lie? Jack has looks and wealth; Grace has charm and elegance. You might not want to like them, but you do. You'd like to get to know Grace better. But it's difficult, because Jack and Grace are never apart. Some might call this true love. Others might ask why Grace never answers the phone. And why there are bars on one of the bedroom windows. Sometimes the perfect marriage is the perfect lie.

I kept going with this in the hope that there would be a twist at the end. It was such an unbelievable plot, that it was actually becoming quite frustrating to listen to. It was well read & parts of the description were good, but overall not worth listening to.
