Great narration, great storyline and kept me wanting more throughout. Will seek this narrator and author out for more.

Right from the start this book failed to grab my attention, I found myself constantly repeating passages as I realised I had lost the thread of the book, eventually after 3 hours I gave up all hope. I usually like historical themes but this storyline seemed weak and hard to follow, the long drawn out conversational passages became boring to the extreme.

Where does Alex Ferguson rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Excellent

What was one of the most memorable moments of Alex Ferguson?

Finding out where he started from.

Any additional comments?

Explained many of the mysteries surrounding Alex over the years and even though I have no love for Man Utd, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Pagan Lord to be better than the print version?

Yes, particularly as Matt Bates narrates the story very well.

Any additional comments?

I have listened or read all the previous parts to this story therefore I enjoyed it however: I am beginning to wonder if the hero is now the oldest man on earth.

Not what I expected.

What would have made Him & Me better?

If it had been a little bit more humorous rather than a boost to the ego of the characters.

What could Jack Whitehall and Michael Whitehall have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Stick to live performances.

What three words best describe Jack Whitehall and Michael Whitehall ’s performance?

Family memoir session.

Any additional comments?

Jack's father has never been an entertainer or live performer therefore his constant presence in his sons projects appears to be based on nepotism and unnecessary.

What did you like most about Band of Brothers?

It was down to earth.

Which character – as performed by Tim Jerome – was your favourite?

Winters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Almost.

Any additional comments?

Being of the generation that brought up to believe the Americans were bit players in World War 2, I found this book to very informative and enlightening.

What would have made The Luminaries better?

If a listener had half a chance of understanding what the story was supposed to be about without being bored half to death.

Has The Luminaries put you off other books in this genre?

Yes

What didn’t you like about Mark Meadows’s performance?

It was as bland as the tale.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No

Any additional comments?

I have no doubt that some people will find this tale compelling but I don't believe I am in the minority when I say I found it impossible to follow and incredibly slow. If I had read the book I doubt I would got past page 2.
It is becoming a trend that book reviews are in the main by similar authors who are hardly likely to offer any real critique about the book in question.

I was looking forward to the next chapter of the Clifton Chronicles but cannot help feeling that this was a hurried follow up with a poor plot. When I finished listening to it I felt the storyline had not really progressed much from the end of the first novel and the finale was akin to suspense program, I half expected the narrator to announce " Tune in for the next thrilling episode and find out what happens to Harry next week". Sorry I wanted to enjoy it but it was not possible.
