This is one of those series that wrings my soul with its aching beauty. The tale weaves you into its spell and you can’t escape. The tale, the relationships, the characters (the depiction of Six in particular is just so tender it feels like it might bruise), the places... all of it just wraps you up and transports you away. There are moments so painful I wept. A wonderful wonderful book.

A great addition to this series!

A warm and quirky tale with just the write amount of peril and a great plot. So glad they’ve stick with the same narrator as she conveys the emotions wonderfully. I also love the way women are written about as whole people and not men’s sidekicks. Really really enjoying this series and I hope there’s more to come!

I loved this story. Just the right mix of pacey plot and characters you come to love. Description of an alternative London is so vivid you can smell the rain and the narrator is excellent and brings a wonderful sense of place to the tale. I’ve already bought book 2!

Just finished my second listen through and this is another great addition to the ‘Rivers of London’ series.

The story is as twisty as I’ve come to expect and I love the character development with Guleed, Peter and Bev in particular. Lovely to see Seawoll back too!

I love the addition of new characters and the way Kobna manages to make each one distinct. As usual, I forget it’s someone reading a book and just get lost in the story.

The bonus interview at the end is fab and I really appreciate the insight, not to mention it’s a fun listen.

A big thank you to the author/ publisher for making this available on the day of the hardback release as well. Can’t wait for the next addition!

This is a warm, funny and engaging yarn with characters that I want to invite over and a pacey plot that keeps you metaphorically turning the pages.

There’s something unexpected around every corner but it’s seamlessly woven together to take you on the journey.

The slow unveiling of the fantasy universe is brilliantly done without appearing contrived. It’s definitely one of my favourite series.

Funny, fast and fabulous with a plot that bangs!

Just finished ‘Devil’s Dream’ and ….Wow!

As usual, brilliant characters. I love that the women aren’t sappy weaklings in constant need of protection from themselves and others. It’s a breath of fresh air!

The relationships are complex and as fun as ever. The plot leads you down what looks like a cul de sac and just as you think all might be lost your head whips sideways and you emerge onto a main road that could take you in so many different directions. The narrator is perfect too.

I can’t wait for book two!

I’ve listened to each series and the third is even more brilliant. Love the range of comedians and I really appreciate getting to hear black and brown comedians. The humour and conversation is warm and engaging, not to mention hilarious. So much so that I’ve had more than a few funny looks whilst cracking up on public transport.

Go listen!

I consumed this in one sitting! The story is as fantastic as always. The plot, the characterisations are spellbinding as always, winding their way around the imagination and bringing you to the heart of this detailed and engaging universe.

My only gripe is the changes in pronunciation and narrator who is not as natural as Susan Duerden. However, the story grabs you enough to overlook this.

It’s another 5 star review from me!

I *love* the Templeverse and Callie Penrose is one of my favourites. The narrator is, as always, brilliant and captures the character perfectly. The story itself has the thrills, spills and warm fuzzies I’ve come to love from Shayne Silvers. I can’t wait for the next instalment!
