When Ellen writes her annual Round Robin to send out with her Christmas cards, she realises it's all about the rest of her family. Fed up and exhausted by yet another year of single-handedly trying to make it a perfect Christmas, Ellen takes a pile of books, her cosiest clothes and the Ocado order and escapes to a beach hut on the North Devon coast. This year, Christmas is going to be all about her and nobody else.

I love the idea of a beach hut, almost impossible to buy around here, a long waiting list but Veronica Henry’s beach hut stories Transport meto a dream world and bringing a puppy into this one is the icing on the cake.

The Beach Hut follows the stories of the families who come to Everdene each year, people who fall in – or out – of love, remembering their pasts, or trying to forget them…There’s Jane Milton, left only debts by her husband, and forced to sell the beloved beach hut that holds so many happy memories; Sarah; for whom fidelity has lost its appeal; and Harry, suffering from the anguish of first love when he falls for Florence – who has grown up to be far more alluring than she ever used to be.

I have to admit that I don’t have headphones but listen to each and every one while ironing! Not very glamorous I’m afraid!
