Earth is 4.5 billion years old. In just a fraction of that time, one species among countless others has conquered it. Us. We are the most advanced and most destructive animals ever to have lived. What makes us brilliant? What makes us deadly? What makes us sapiens? In this bold and provocative audiobook, Yuval Noah Harari explores who we are, how we got here, and where we're going.

In this remarkable and controversial book, Alexander Fiske-Harrison follows the tracks of a whole bullfighting year in Spain. He trains and takes part in the sport himself. He gives us memorable portraits of bull-fighters and bulls, of owners, trainers and fans - of a whole country. Fiske-Harrison offers a fully rounded and involving portrait of an art as performed for centuries and of the arguments that dog it today.

Describes the history of the bull fight and all of those involved. Read in a manner that is easy to listen to you are given a thorough history of the subject. Comparisons are made between the killing of an animal for art/culture and the more accepted killing of animals for food. I am not a fan of bull fighting buy of Spanish culture and as a result found the subject intriguing. I was not disappointed and listened to the whole book in 3 days.

When Polly Evans set off on a journey round Spain by bicycle, she found more adventures than she had bargained for: She survived a nail biting encounter with a sprightly pig, escaped over-zealous suitors, had her morality questioned by locals and indulged in her love of regional cooking. While she pedalled, Polly pondered some of the more lurid details of Spanish history - the king who collected pickled heads and the unfortunate duchess who lost her feet.

With facts on pro-cycking, Spanish history ,culture and cuisine this tale has something for everyone. The information is delivered in a lighthearted humorous style that is enlightening and fun rather than dry and cumbersome. Whether you like to cycle or not this book will have you smiling as you imagine the triumphs and turmoil that would surround a single woman travelling around Spain on her own. I read and enjoyed the novel many years ago and loved listening to it just as much. if you dream of adventure without ever intending to embark this book will provide you with the essential support. if you plan to embark after all this book will
give you a glimpse of the challenges that may lie ahead. Excellent entertainment all round.
