I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be getting more of the series.

The start was good, could really feel for Dave and even more so for his wife. They have a very untypical relationship for characters in a book and by the end you just want to wrap them both up together in bubble wrap. Add on his troubled relationship with his oldest son and you just desperately want to step in and help Dave!

The narration by Jeff Harding is fantastic and by putting both of these together I'm desperate to carry on reading/listening to the next books.

Can't wait for the rest!

I really did love these and will be off to download the next as soon as I have finished this review.

Firstly, to those moaning about R C Bray's narration. I kind of get what they mean but I found it more adorable that he was trying so hard at the English accent. (I'm a big R C Bray fan). It does settle down and he just goes with it.

Secondly, it's just great. It has a good pace as far as I'm concerned. There is the "normal" picking up the pieces after humanity has been all but wiped out. Then you also have the parts of humanity that unfortunately aren't. It is one of those "is there really hope for the human race " thoughts that runs deep with the decline of the world as it is. However, then we have the hope, those that are willing to make it right, start again with a future for all...

Off to start the next two!

Something about this...

There is just something special about this book.

I got it on a whim as I was a little unsure as to whether it was really something I wanted to read. However the further I listened the more I'm drawn into Kelsea's story. I actually found I had to turn it off at night as I was losing sleep! I generally don't have that problem when I'm read a bed time story lol.

The only downside to this is the narrator. For the most part she is fantastic and does a great job with the different voices. The thing is, Kelsea is a 19 year old that sounds about 50. It also felt like I was listening to a commentator following a horse race at times as it actually sped up to such speed during more climactic parts. Definitely needed toning down, maybe greyhound racing as opposed snail racing speed so we can have a happy medium.

Off to listen to book 2 by a different narrator so hopefully we will have a 19 year old sounding Kelsea. Enjoy

Loved this.

Once again A G Riddle doesn't disappoint. I loved this book.

I was a little worried about the narration to start but it worked really well.

I couldn’t even get past chapter 5. The narrator wasn’t too bad I’d gotten used to him by that point.

My problem with this book is it is almost a bad excuse for an even worse porno book! I was looking forward to a good sci fi book but this is just “bad bad”

I’d have give the story zero zero if I’d been allowed allowed

I'll be honest, this is the 3rd book and the 1st one that the end twist has actually had me shocked. You definitely didn't see it coming! Which was lucky as I've been giving up hope with this series and the narrator at times.

Good points...
* the ending makes the whole series so far worthwhile
*now get why the main character is so frustrating

Negative points...
* Lottie is still as frustrating as a parent, detective and daughter
* the narrator still put enough distinction between the characters that it can get confusing at times.

Will I read the next book?...
The ending changed me on this and I am now off to purchase book 4.

Loved the books

I have to say I loved this and even got butterflies in my tummy in the epilogue of book 3. Now I HAVE to get the rest because I need to know what happens.

Space chickens, futuristic-mushroom eating- hippy, an android, a doctor/monk on a mission, a security officer dreaming of being a galactic sauce superstar who's running away from the space mob, a lesbian mechanic and a captain just trying to find her daughter. It's brilliant!!

The only fault I can find is the narrator. Unfortunately there really isn't much in the way of character distinction which can get VERY confusing. Also she has a weird way of emphasising parts of a sentence that sometimes you think there is more to come and sometimes it's as though she's just cut off... Very strange. Thankfully the story is strong enough to keep you going.

The book is great, shame about the narration

The book is brilliant. As full on as the other Lindsay Boxer cases are.

However the narrator is infuriating! She seemed to almost whisper at times. It was almost like there were points where she was trying to make the most mundane of tasks appear "sexy"?? She put emphasis on some weird points that had no reason to be emphasised? Not looking forward to having to put up with her for book 5. Hopefully the new narrator from book 6 will be better

I have enjoyed this but the narrator is so robotic. It's hard to feel the intense parts when the narration is so flat and sharp. At times she sounds like she has a sweet in her mouth!

Oh my goodness.

This is a brilliantly twisted book that leaves you with goosebumps.

Brilliant narration adds to make it a must listen to.
